Correct, they obviously lived in the Doncaster area having been East Donny juniors, and by the time that Marc came through both Leigh and Brett were already playing at Melbourne University, at which stage you didn't need to go to the University to play for the club.
Meh, enough over a rumour...
None of the three brothers ever played at Carlton. They all played together at Melbourne Uni, although the older brothers Brett and Leigh both played at other clubs (Fitzroy Doncaster, from memory).
Marc definitely didn't play in a proper 2 day GF, may have been involved in a OD final series...
Believe that he went onto the committee at Carlton after retiring, so was still involved at some level. Great pick-up for them, strengthens their batting and covers well for the loss of Manser, who coincidentally was basically replacing Welsford.
Doran into Dandenong is an interesting one...
A belated congratulations to Richmond CC.
In offseason news... a coup for Essendon CC getting Brendan Joyce as coach. Thought I read here/heard around the traps that he was being groomed to take over from DiVenuto at Carlton.
Haven't heard of much talk regarding moves, be interesting to see...
Certainly will be fit, has been strength and conditioning coach for the WA shield side for a few years. Blokes like that don't blow out in a year or two.
Paddy Smith from Melbourne CC takes away quickest bowler title after the tea break on Day 3. Anyone else that people thought should've been having a trundle in it?
Hmm, well, Richmond did play on the Tuesday, but there was no Tait. Good to see Hawthorn get a couple of wins on the board anyway. Heard that they managed to stop North Melbourne from recruiting their young pace bowler, Jones, who was on the way out only a week or two ago.
Ringwood vs Prahran...
Really? I thought the Renegades were having a camp down at Geelong, and that Richmond were playing on the Wednesday before a Stars training session and a Women's game.
Interesting to see Simpson named for St Kilda, took five for his new club in what would be one of very few appearances you'd imagine, although not really sure if they've got too many other spinners on their books, the Stars. And Reardon was named for the Sainters' co-tenants, the Kangas, but...
With a quarter of the season done, fair to say that Essendon have been the early surprise packets. Reid's gone up the extra step, and Howell's a great pick-up for them - gives depth to their batting which has relied on the big two for a long time, and can step in with the ball when required...
Nannes' interest in playing club cricket has been in the negatives for a fair while. I'd imagine that Tait's would be similar, he doesn't bother getting through 50 overs of international or state cricket any more, it'd be surprising if he "lowers himself" to play in Melbourne's Grade cricket.
Or who has a spare bit of cash to throw at them.
Funnily enough, will probably be the same sides (Melb, St. Kilda) where they have their mates from state cricket at.
You'd imagine that it would only be the guys who aren't playing regularly in the T20 league that will be picked for Grade Teams. These players also get a discount on their playing points, if I remember correctly. Maybe Reardon, Heal, Simpson and Faulkner might bob up at some stage.
By the looks of things, all the big guns must be available for this first weekend, too.

I agree on both your points, he's not the greatest T20 bowler - saw him hit around last year in person, and didn't deserve a Big Bash contract. But he can get people out more than most on that list, whereas nearly all the other spinners require the batsman to be going hard at them. Quality...
Rose an oversight, all off the top of my head, haha. Probably put him in just before McDonald, although I think he's very one-dimensional in terms of higher honours. Quick, flat and accurate, will get wickets in Grade cricket but I don't see him being penetrative in 2nd XI stuff.
Roberts seems...
McGain still rather clearly is, judging on what he's done in the past few years when he has been playing for Prahran. You could probably throw a sheet over most of them after that, with Holland a bit ahead of the pack.
The pack consisting of Maxwell, Hart, Salpietro, McDonald, Sandri, O'Shea...
Looks like North Melbourne will be a bit more competitive this year. Ghasperidis is a decent pick up, chuck in Love and you're starting to get the skeleton of a side there. Interesting to see Sturgess move from Northcote, esp. going to Carlton where I would have thought he'd find it harder to...
So, the issues that the moves raise:
Will Northcote push bowlers from within, having lost their two best quicks, or are they out hunting?
Could be a record breaking year for batsman, with the number of quality bowlers lost (Dickinson, Pietersz, Walerys, Dale, Hoare, Moose, etc.)?
Simon Keen...
So, as we enter August, time for a new thread.
Most of the moves listed on the Premier website, but will regurgitate them here for easy reference:
J. Crosthwaite to Camberwell.
Keen to Carlton.
Andee to Carlton.
Crawford to Casey-SM.
Bird to Casey-SM.
Clingeleffer to Casey-SM.
Forsyth to...
