Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Beer gone to WA. St. Kilda have a decent replacement in Sykes, who played underage cricket in NSW as a left arm orthodox spinner.
Cosgrove supposedly looking to play Premier Cricket without a contract in Victoria. If so, there's a finals spot in the...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Wouldn't be surprised to see Adrian Jones end up coaching St Kilda next year. Possibly with Gerard Denton and John Hastings added to the side.
Ridgway looking to have a "Director of Cricket" type role at Casey. Don't know anything about Porter.
A number of...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Footscray have had enough of Sandri, and it seems as though MO'S and Carl are a package deal. Hillas has left because he has work in Sydney later in 2010, whilst the Camberwell arrangement was always going to be temporary, after the resignation of Maddocks...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Hmm, looking back on that side, not all that enamoured with the fielding of it. Would think about replacing O'Shea with another spinner who fields better and moves well, as Buchanan, Dempsey and Schlittler would probably have to stay in the ring the whole time.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Premier Cricket Twenty20 XI

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Mash has probably the best record of all those players in 2nd XI cricket, with two double centuries to his name. I'd be backing him to make more runs against first class attacks than the likes of Gulbis, or any other non-contracted player.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Hmm, you'd think Gulbis would sneak in for a Futures League game if he were really in the minds of the selectors.
To put it in perspective, he'd still have Quiney, Mash, Finch, Hill and Blizzard to get in front of before he got a game, once Hodge returns...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Essendon had to cash in whilst Rogers was playing consistently, and did so; one of their losses was by one run too. Northcote endured a similar start last year, now the ball is in their court to continue on winning in 2 day cricket. Also have a very good...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Mind you, the year that they finished top, Lindsay didn't fire a shot with the bat, but took a heap of wickets. Especially with the loss of McCammond and Duckworth, reckon they'd want him fit and firing with the ball more than the bat at this stage.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Think that there's a fair few people around who still see him as a bit of a front foot bully, and not getting too many runs in 2nd XI cricket last year didn't help that theory. Obviously once he gets in, he sees the ball so well that he can take a lot of...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Melbourne Uni's batting leaves a fair bit to be desired. Cairns is a big loss, he's been their best batsman over the past three years. Their bowling attack is good, and I wouldn't be putting them in a group with NM and HMU, but they'll be relying on Leggett...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Thoughts on Rd 2
Got to be some worries down at Scray land, not getting enough runs. Is there list deep enough at the moment? The Geis needs to stand up, had their best year as a club when he had his best year.
Reckon Dandenong would love to play against...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Shanahan never played a game for Victoria. Probably the fact that he made all his runs in 2 day cricket didn't help, as he would've been a better chance for one day cricket with his power and wily bowling.
Certainly deposited a lot of balls onto Camberwell...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10
Was there for the unfurling of the flag down at Ringwood. Very professional dispaly down there, Stray played the perfect one day knock and took the powerplay downtown.
Popped by Punt Road later that day to watch a mate play, and saw a horrible display by...
