Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Assuming that Toorak Park is still the slow track it has been for the last 5 years, then I think you'd find that in the selectors' minds, that they'd firmly disagree.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Selectors like to see their batsmen and bowlers doing well on wickets that they'd consider similar to those that you'd face in FC cricket.
A 100 or 5 wicket haul at the Albert is worth more than one at Toorak Park, for example.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Should have been picked ahead of Hill.
Might get a sniff this year if White and Hussey are called into the One Day side.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Because he became an amateur. When you move to a club and become a pro, you don't have to put in a clearance. So now that he isn't a pro, he had to get a clearance to move over.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Couldn't give a stuff if they're paying players. No-one else will either when they miss the finals again! Hey, at least they're still forking out $280 for a tracksuit so they look good.
Can buy players, can't buy a club!
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Don't think Mur was a 1st XI player.
Hewat, Cox and Miller all unhappy with the coaching and selection down that way. Trust Hawthorn to block the clearance.

Round 2
Match of the Round: Hawthorn vs Footscray. Top of the ladder, versus the big recruiters of the off-season. Whoever loses this starts off the season at 0-2. Will Benham be over this week for the Hawkers? Hawthorn's strength clearly their batting...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Have to back them in against North Melbourne. And without Wright, you'd think that they'd be favourites against Casey, whose batting didn't cope well first round.
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Depends how Walerys comes back from injury, really. Without him, a lot of responsibility falls on Carson, who is a very good bowler, but their back up pacemen aren't nearly as threatening.
Their pitch will favour the spinners there all year, expect Muller...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
I'll take being an over-rated team that's won a premiership any day of the week. Don't see how you could give them anything but full credit; utilised the pathway system as well as anyone else, and really only brought one player (Gilmour) into the club...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Allen won't be sneaking under anyone's guard at Northcote though! Chris Harris pulling through with his recruits! Northcote will be OK, maybe not this year, but they're starting to get a collection of kids together which will hold them in good stead.
The...
Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09
Cairns is a big key for MUCC.
Sandri gets overlooked a bit because of the Footscray pace attack. Was hardly needed last year though, to be fair.
Jaensch will be hugely important for the Tiges now that Wise has gone.
