Well done to the (former) HDCA boys - You've succeeded in turning this forum in to an absolute rabble. And in record time, too.
Honestly, what a bunch of flogs.
My understanding is that it was a recommendation, rather than a ruling.
Not a fan of it myself - The theory behind it is good, but there's no practicality to it. Game day needs to be taken in to account when rules like this are brought in. This hasn't happened here. IMO.
It can all be fixed...
2 top divisions: A ridiculous grab from second rate clubs in order to lay claim to playing A Grade cricket, IMO.
If your club is worth its salt and can perform to a standard worthy of the A Grade tag you'll be playing that standard soon enough.
The competition will be far better off having 2...
That happened in the Fletcher vs Baker case - I think, happy to be corrected by someone who has first-hand knowledge, Fletcher went and appealed his 2 year ban and it was thrown out on the back of no new evidence being presented.
So going by that precedent you would hope (for their sakes) one...
The Mernda Cricket Club is affiliated with the Diamond Valley Cricket Association (DVCA) and requires the services of a playing or non-playing senior coach for the 2012/13 cricket season and beyond.
The Mernda Cricket Club is based in the quickly-growing suburb of Mernda, approx. 30km’s north...
It's nothing but poor manners.
The same people that bring grog to other grounds are the first to throw their arms up when others do it to them and as a result you often get the "well, they did it first" or "other clubs do it, why can't we?" excuses.
It's a vicious circle unfotunately and...
Putting two and two together here, so please correct me if I'm wrong...
I've just read online and heard or the wireless that a player from a cricket club in Greensborough was hit in the chest by a ball at training last night and suffered a heart attack.
Ambos were called and two senior...
Good question.
I think you'd find most clubs' best 1 or 2 bats would be very hard to dis-lodge from the teams they play in currently. Loyalty still plays a part in local sport. There aren't too many guns for hire out there that are worth throwing big bucks at.
The only problem with the ODC is the competition's want for clubs to play every week.
I don't know about anyone else, but the whole idea of giving a player/team the option to play in a one day comp is to allow him/them to have every second week off for other commitments. Instead of playing...
I think the rule should come back in the interest of fairness.
I don't think it needs to be changed or worded differently though - Any player can't drop more than 2 grades at his own club. Simple.
As I understand the rule, if that was to happen, there would be no movement for teams in B Grade, Mill Park would be safe in MS and unable to be promoted to B Grade.
Happy for someone with a bit more knowledge to correct me.
The old saying "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" comes to mind here...
Marlwood Ryder did a great job with the comp site, it was rubbish when he took it over and it's rubbish again now that he has been chased out of town with the other pro-NCL thinkers on the DVCA Exec.
Just...
Just on the note of good moves by the competition - I've just been told the Round 10 BS fixture has been moved back to the original dates.
The 3 comps involved have agreed to move the T20 finals date to Sunday 26th Feb.
