Re: WTF? DVCA change the rules, who knew!!!
Yes it will - The Prez (I think) laid out a rough costing for all clubs either a couple pages back or in another thread.
Some quick searching will uncover it.
Re: Grounds
The Mernda ground has proven to be pretty resilient - Whether it be too wet at one stage or too dry at another, it always seems to come good given the right conditions.
All it will need is 2 - 3 weeks of dry-ish weather for it to come good.
It's only logical to think that most...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 2010/11
Is it just me or does anyone else see the ironic side of a bloke from Riverside with a reference to choking in his name..?:p
Re: WTF? DVCA change the rules, who knew!!!
With that in mind and with Whittlesea dropping in to what was BR - Will the Eltham 2nds now be playing B Grade (old MR) after finishing bottom in BR last year? And as a result of that will Panton Hill's 2nds be playing C Grade, as they finished...
Re: WTF? DVCA change the rules, who knew!!!
This is a new grading system, starting this year.
Last year's results have no bearing on the new system. The only change from last year will be that, instead of going around and getting smashed in Money Shield again, Whittlesea will be relegated...
Re: DVCA: Player movements and rumours
Just on that note - Will Eltham College be forgotten all together now? Or will they be given some sort of recognition in a new name/logo for the merged clubs?
Research Collegians or something similar would be a good fit, but I don't know the finer...
Re: WTF? DVCA change the rules, who knew!!!
Can someone clarify something for me...
Will the premier of the new A Grade (old BR) be promoted to Money Shield in replace of the side that finishes last in Money Shield?
I was speaking to a mate of mine yesterday who was under the impression...
Re: DVCA Money Shield 09/10
I've heard they either want to a be a junior or senior exclusive club (can't remember exactly which one) but the comp have told them that they need to be both junior and senior to get a spot in the DVCA.
Not sure how they're going as far as getting numbers...
Re: DVCA: Player movements and rumours
Callum Dean from Mernda has been shopping himself around on the back of a good year.
Not sure exactly how many clubs he's spoken to, but he's looking at the highest bidder. No doubt there will be big pressure on Mernda to keep him next year.
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
Very rare occasion - CC standing at one end just potting the mediocore D Grade bowling of the oppostion into the creek behind them!
Maybe you should have only been allowed to bat at the creek end, that way at least you'd only have had to knock on the...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
Well done to Eltham on proving myself and a few others wrong by avoiding relegation again this year. A big win at the right time and another poor showing by NEW this week ensures their survival yet again.
Hopefully, for the sake of the competition more than...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
Of course you're going to get on here and defend your club, and good on you for doing so.
Something's wrong down at ECC if the only time you can get up enough motivation to string some good cricket together is to avoid relegation. If you can win games then...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
You blokes were lucky to avoid it last year and have been the worst performed side so far this year, as your spot on the ladder indicates. Whether you sit last by 4 games or by .00001% - you're still last and will probably stay there for the remainder of...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
Yep. Point well proven.
All jokes aside, and you can give me the old "well done for going out on a limb" line if you like, but I think you best prepare to play Money Shield for a few years after that loss.
Here's looking forward to round 10..!
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
The pitch has settled down CONSIDERABLY over the last couple of years, nothing like it was when it first got water under it and it started playing up.
But yes, it still has 2 or 3 spots that either keep low when they shouldn't or spit up when you wouldn't...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
As I said, Mernda haven't been able to bat for the best part of 10 years. The new pitch is only 5 years old.
Bakes comes off 5 steps at training, little bit different to faceing up to him off his full run and Chesto doesn't bowl at all.
And to clarify...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
Well done on skipping over the big part of my argument - Bakes and Chesto.
I understand your point - But I just can't see how the only reason it's a shit pitch is because it's not 100% ideal for a batsman. It adds to the contest and instead of whinging about...
Re: DVCA Barclay Shield 09/10
I was about to write exactly the same thing.
How many blokes have made 100+ scores batting against Bakes and/or Chesto at any ground?
Add to that the fact that you're talking about a side that hasn't been able to bat for the best part of 10 years...
