Hmm, also another tip: try and overcompensate when trying the leg break. So instead of thinking like you are going to bowl one that spins at a 45 degree angle, 50/50 topspin and sidespin, imagine you are trying to bowl one that spins at a 90 degree angle, pure sidespin. Hopefully that should get...
For the videos, I would try getting one from the angle from behind the stumps, one from behind your bowling action (umpires view basically), and maybe one from side on. That should be sufficient.
Yeah, must say there's hardly anything of substance about flippers, if it wasn't for yours and Warne's videos I'd have no clue how to bowl them.
Do the topspinning flippers come out very slow and loopy?
I actually feel the only thing that makes it harder for me is the accuracy, I'm a little less accurate to lefties which is only natural. But the thing is if I get it right I find it easier to get them out because if they miss, I hit, whereas if a righthander misses a legbreak it will most likely...
Wow Dave, well done! Clutch bowling performance - I called it, knew you'd get a five fa soon enough! It looked like you were bowling mostly flippers, right? Most of your wickets were bowled too so that's pretty good.
Well yeah I've actually found that the white ball drifts and dips more for some reason but doesn't turn as much? Maybe it's just easier to see drift and dip with the white ball? Maybe the white ball is softer and on the hard, syntho pitches it can't grip as much? But out of all these theories I...
Yeah, I find most batsmen don't watch the hand much and just play off the surface so the googly could be a great weapon. Also, do your googlies turn more than your leggies by any chance?
PS: On a related note, Rehan Ahmed is in the English test squad, and he has a googly that turns more than...
Yeah, I try and do hand to hand practice once every two days or so, as I get better at it I've found the flipper comes out with more backspin revs, at least hand to hand. Also, when I do bowl the flipper though, it has around 80% backspin and 20% offspin, as it is really hard to get your hand in...
Yeah true, thanks for the reminder. Usually I like to stick to bowling 2 or 3 leggies for every variation I bowl, so I might bowl 2-3 leggies and then throw in one googly/flipper depending on what I'm working on. I think that's the sweetspot, as you do need to accumulate enough frequent volume...
Sounds like you did alright apart from a couple bad balls. I reckon I probably need a lucky charm too haha like you.
On a side note, I've realised that my googlies come out much loopier and slower than my leggies? Any advice to get them a touch flatter and faster, has anyone else dealt with...
