I know that feel bro. The weekly 'coaching' I do is kind of dumb as well. For 1 1/2 hours, its just waiting in line at the nets and getting a bowl every 5 minutes because our club has so many teams that 1 team of 11+ players only has 1 net. The only reason I play cricket is just to bowl, I just...
I'm playing in under-13s and they have to give every bowler a go, so I only got 3 overs.
I bowl around the wicket because it's how many legspinners bowl to left-handers. It's like an offspinner going over the wicket. I spin it as hard as I can into the pads or stumps, and throw in...
Played a 30 over match today. I am quite happy with my bowling. First over was to a right handed batsman, so I went around the wicket like usual. Remember I am a left arm wrist spinner. First ball went down the legside as the pitch resembled one made in Bangladesh. 3rd/4th ball I bowled a...
From what I have seen, it is just from the Magnus effect. If the ball is spinning with only overspin and sidespin, it won't drift, however, if you angle the seam so that there is a slight amount of flying-saucer spin, it will create a bit of drift from the flying saucer spin. Graeme Swann did...
Finished my first actual club game today in under 13s (even though I'm 13 I get put in u13s anyway lol). It was 50 overs per side like a one dayer. We won the toss and bowled first, to my relief. Everyone was given a go at bowling so that meant I only got 4 overs. I ended up with figures of 1-10...
Either I'm doing something completely wrong or I am just very lucky but I have never seemed to have this googly syndrome (more likely the former). I, like everyone else, started off by just bowling legbreaks, and started bowling the wrongun with out too much hassle once I found out how to do it...
Thanks for the advice, I'll have to try it the next time I get an opportunity to head to the nets, which will be difficult knowing my homework from high school.
I have never really been clear on what a slider is. Is it just a legbreak with no overspin that skids or is it a mix of backspin and sidespin or what? Someone please clarify this for me
Been bowling at the park and it's not too pretty lol. I guess the only reason I'm uploading it is to make everyone else here feel better about their own bowling though I feel like it's not too bad for someone who has never had coaching or club experience before.
For both grips I use my thumb a fair bit, and with the wrist spin grip I mainly use thumb and middle finger. I do get a good amount of revs but I tend to have trouble with seam alignment, maybe because of the odd way I release the ball. I'll have to post a video of my bowling action someday...
(a) for me. Left arm wrist spin, left arm because I always threw with my left arm and wrist spin because it just feels the most natural way for me to spin it. Took me a good year or so of bowling tennis ball on concrete for me to figure out finger spin. I don't play cricket for a club yet, but I...
