That's interesting - and surprised me. We got about 15mm here in the eastern suburbs yesterday, but I see that Moorabbin Airport only had 3 or so. There's hope the cricket season will get under way, although I hope somebody reminds Glen Eira council. :-)
I've just found the 16/17 playing rules on my PC. Rule 21.11 allowed for reserve day (and which was required). However in subsequent years there is no such rule; the only mention of reserve days is related to grand finals. That may not stop the CSB from raising the possibility with the clubs for...
I think it is seen as fairer to all concerned. I believe that if more than a set percentage of grounds is unavailable then it's called off. Considering it's the council who have disallowed play (or at least refused to prepare wickets) it would be unfair on the clubs who miss out. Not really a...
Is there a scheduled make up day in the CSB? I know there was one in 16/17 but I don't remember reading anything about a make-up in the rules for the last two seasons.
Yes, I heard words to that effect on Sunday. I noticed that Caulfield, Ormond and Elsternwick didn't play either, so the Glen Eira issue wasn't just CSB.
No idea. The playing dates have only just been released, so now we know that the Sat/Sun match has been dropped, replaced by two one-day games. Even knowing the grades would be interesting - only Championship has been announced.
Seems a pretty fair summation to me. Mordialloc look like a contender in Champ, and suspect, like you, that Hampton will be strugglers. In Div 1 I have no idea what St Brigids bring. Early last season I was told that OM would be exiting 2-day cricket, but there's been no mention anywhere during...
Seems to be the case. No 1st XI to be promoted into any grade. It's hard to win a premiership - now Aspendale and Cheltenham have to do it again to earn promotion, again.
Bad luck too to Middle Park, who were relegated to Div 2 despite finishing 7th. Seems like there's no rule allowing relegation from 7th out of Championship, but you can be relegated in lower divisions. I might check out the rules... Here's the leader article announcing the decision...
Fair enough. I had forgotten) that "CSB may extend an invitation for promotion to a team who wins the Premiership". So it could be Mordy in and McKinnon down. Bit tough on Aspendale in that case, and would also mean Middle Park stay in Div 1.
Of course, there's always rule 8.2.2 - CSB shall...
Very good news. Another two first XIs will mean only a couple of 2nd XIs in Div 2. I guess this means Parkdale will join McKinnon dropping to Div 1, and Middle Park will be relegated to Div 2, along with Chelsea.
Discovered the answer. Apparently the comp want finals to be played on 1st XI grounds wherever possible. So Oakleigh, the top ranked team in 3GFs, have only one home match.
