While I tipped South, I wasn't expecting such a one-sided game. It would have been nice to follow it live on My Cricket though, especially given it's the premier grade of the comp. We were able to follow Divs 1, 2, 3 and 4. (Don't know about 5 and 6 - not enough interest in them)
Ah well. It's a brave man who forecasts the finalists six or seven weeks before the season starts. Two out of four ain't bad. Hampton seem to have survived a battle for relegation, and Bentleigh need to make 359 against Sth Caulfield, and even then rely on bottom placed McKinnon making 338...
Maybe not discussed at the AGM, but given the changes to Premier Cricket fixturing, with a standalone T20 comp, and 3rds and 4ths only playing 1 day games, I wonder whether those changes might filter down to CSB?
If Balwyn win their appeal they will get 6 points, taking them 45 and equal to Brighton, but Brighton's percentage is higher. What happens to the percentage if a game is overturned on appeal? (Or in other words, how will Balwyn get to 6th if they win the appeal?)
Not all that very different to the South/East group. Somebody here has said "Caulfield has more depth than the continental shelf. Thorne, Anthony, Rummans, Cross out 'cheaply', yesssss, we are into them here boys; nek minnit, the Denny and Warren show! Give them the flag now".
Isn't this just making the competition more even for those clubs who spend megabucks on their 1st XI and don't care about their 4th XI? I guess you could call Division 2 the 5th XI, but I doubt that having your fourths playing in the 5th XI grade would change the minds of the executive of those...
In Division 1 at least the forthcoming round is the reverse of rain affected round 10, so if playing a lower team it becomes a double whammy. Round 10 drawn, round 12 heat affected and possibly reduced to one day.
The Christmas break. You'd reckon with eight team grades, seven matches in, you would have played everybody and have a decent idea of where teams stand. However for reasons only known to CSB it seems as though three of the four two day games which kicked off the season have been replayed as one...
I agree that 3 T20s is too many. It would be better to have a "T20 weekend" with rounds on the Saturday and Sunday, and then continue with the 40 over games. Not fussed either way about the pink balls - how do they stand up to 80 overs compared to the red ones? Or 40 overs compared to the white...
