I have no strong feelings either way. Some good reasons here why it might not work, but I am interested to see how well it pans out (and equally interested in knowing how its effectiveness will me measured at the end of the season)
As far as I can tell, the clubs have had input or provided feedback on all the proposed rules, so I don't think this "no toss" rule is one which has been decided exclusively by the working party.
In the report in the Leader...
It appears as though the rules produced by Southern Bayside (with I expect a great deal of input from CV) are likely to be strongly recommended when new regions come into the CV fold. Understandably they seem to want all comps to have the same rules. So, maybe next year in the North...
Some interesting rules for Cricket Southern Bayside next year:
In two day games (but not finals) there will be no coin toss - the visiting team will have the choice.
One day and T20 games will have fielding restrictions, power plays, free hits after no-balls, and rain affected matches will be...
I see that the new association has a web page on My Cricket:

Interesting name - Cricket Southern Bayside. No sign of a league, association or competition in the title.
I've finally found somewhere I can read progress updates. That's good news.
Yeah. It's a bit sad on some ways - my first game in the (then) VJCA was in 1966, fifty years ago, and my club was in the VJCA/VTCA for more than 60 years. But the future looks exciting and the fixture is certainly interesting. Looking forward to watching next season's cricket.
This does look good. However Round 10, T20 with the Second XI playing a "curtain raiser" to the First XI might be challenging to fixture if the Second XIs are non-aligned? I like the idea of non-aligned seconds, but to me this fixture suggests that they may actually be aligned.
The number of competing clubs in the South is on the decline. We were down to a single 1st XI grade this season, albeit with one or two 1st XIs playing in the enormous and very strange South Seconds grade (one or two depending upon when on the calendar you chose to take a look, as the...
Lowest placed North and South teams are relegated. So, theoretically a team could finish 6th, a bees-dick out of the finals, and 20 points ahead of the 7th and lower teams, and get relegated.
Interesting mid-season promotion/relegation between South and South/Snr Seconds. Middle Park up (to where they should have been) replacing Kingston-Hawthorn 5ths, who are still a grade too high IMO.
All points earned thus far are retained, so Middle Park go to the top of South, and...
That's why it was introduced, but why was it necessary? It means Sen Division is now not the best 12 clubs in the VTCA, but quota driven. The best 6 each from North and South, regardless of their strength relative to the clubs on the other side.
Changing the subject from next season to the just-ended season. Does anybody have any idea of the make-up of the "Team of the Year" in other than Senior Division? I can't seem to find anything on the VTCA web site.
The Leading Edge says "With a strong majority of our clubs recently rejecting the Cricket Victoria model of Turf Cricket regions ..." and continued "This is not to say that the VTCA have closed the door on Cricket Victoria completely moving forward, we have continued strong dialogue in recent...
Yeah, you're probably right. But I reckon Chelsea will be claiming that their 2nds would be too weak to play Senior Div. I would have thought that they would be invited last year when Old Mentonians dropped out (basically for the same reason) as runners-up, instead McKinnon who lost the...
