Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
That's not proof of anything. India usually doesn't collapse when Dravid plays well. South Africa usually doesn't collapse when Amla plays well.
Very few sides collapse when their number 3 has a good game, that's why...
Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
I think you are both overstating it the matter. Certainly he has a certain aura about him which helps the team, but stick another player who can score the same amount at first drop and the team is not going to have its...
Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
Whoa, steady on. Nobody is talking about kicking Ponting off the team. He's performing quite adequately enough to hold his place, even if he wasn't the captain.
I'm just pointing out that he's not scoring at a rate...
Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
That's a whole lot of writing to say basically nothing of relevance. If we don't have another batsman in the country who can average low-to-mid-40s at number 3 then things are far worse than I thought.
Undoubtably...
Re: Michael Vaughan, what have you become?
FIFA regulations stipulate that naturalised players must reside 5 years in the country after the age of 18, and not be cap-tied to another country.
Youth caps usually don't cap-tie duel citizens, but they do prevent you becoming naturalised after...
Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
You said it's not often you have a batsman averaging 60 at number three. I was merely agreeing, by pointing out that we don't have one now. ;)
Regardless of your unrequited infatuation with the boozy bruising bogan who...
Re: Michael Vaughan, what have you become?
It's not very fair to make someone irreversibly select their future team before they're even really an adult.
Ultimately no set of rules is going to be satisfactory because nationality is such a nebulous concept. You want players playing for the...
Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
Ponting isn't averaging 60. He's averaging low 40s, and has been for a good couple of years.
Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
Clarke may well finish with better statistics; I don't think that necessarily makes him a better batsman per the thread title though.
Matthew Hayden has some of the best statistics of any batsman ever, but I still...
Re: Who will finish their careers as the better batsmen? Clarke or Ponting?
It's not a fair comparison. Scoring rates have accelerated astronomically since Clarke started his career. His average after 95 innings is not comparable to Ponting's, let alone Chappell's.
To give some perspective, in...
Re: Ways to improve BigCricket...help us make the site better
It's more specific than posting it on the general international board. Given the traffic that the Rest Of The World forum currently gets it's hard to justify splitting it any further.
If the SA and India threads were burying...
Login Glitch
Minor thing, but if I go to the homepage and login using the box at the TRH corner, it takes me to the 'Thanks for Logging In' screen and back to the homepage... but shows me as still logged out.
As soon as I click on a link to another area of the site (e.g. forums) it refreshes...
