Re: Can india Win The World Cup T20
To this end, thread moved to Rest of the World forum - hopefully that will allow it to retain its focus on India.
I know I'm moving a lot of threads, but we are consciously trying to ensure that this board retains its international neutrality of...
Re: And the latest news in Pakistani Cricket...
Hmm just saw this. Please post country-specific thread in their own forums, thanks. I think there's a parallel discussion over there.
Thread moved to ROTW.
Re: Australia/NZ and the hosting of major tournaments
This is all a bit of a conspiracy theory. The first 3 tournaments were held in England because at that time it was more of a corporate sponsors' invitational that they owned and hosted. The WC as a 'real' ICC rotating event began in 1987...
Re: Australia in New Zealand
No. Let's put it this way - when's the last time you said that one of Australia's wins deserves an 'asterisk' because we got the benefit of dodgy decisions?
It cuts both ways.
Re: Test XI Selection Thread - NZ Tour
Erm... correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you making the opposite argument last year (FC runs trump ODI runs) when people were debating whether Hodge or Ferguson should be next in line for the Test team?
Re: Australia in New Zealand
This sooking.
Do you have asterisks beside any of Australia's wins in the last few years? Because most assuredly we've got the benefit of plenty of decisions equally as bad.
Swings and roundabouts.
Re: Australia in New Zealand
It's not that bad a decision. Sure Ponting's innings was flashier, but White was the one who anchored the innings and steered Australia home undefeated. Plus he took the crucial catch to dismiss McCullum.
I wouldn't have complained if Ponting won it, but White...
Re: Australia in New Zealand
But that's got nothing to do with limited overs cricket, and never has. The total is the only thing that matters, not how you got there or when.
If your team makes 238 in 50 overs for the loss of no wickets, and mine makes 238 in 20 overs for the loss of 10, the...
Re: Australia in New Zealand
Why should it come into the equation? 238 runs is 238 runs, regardless if it was 10/238 in the 20th over or 0/238 in the 50th.
DL is about the chasing team and the resources they have to achieve the target.
Re: Waqar Younis the new man in charge of Pakistan Cricket
Incredible.
Rana, Malik get one-year bans, Younis and Yousuf axed from teams | Pakistan Cricket News | Cricinfo.com
Crazy, crazy, crazy. The team needed a rocket up them and some serious culture change, but this seems overly extreme...
Re: Australia in New Zealand
It's not that unreasonable. Don't forget it's percentage based, and 39 runs is a pretty sizable portion. The rates they use are based on average scoring rates for ODIs, so if the purportedly best ODI team in the world can't beat NZ then it's their problem - not DL's.
Re: Michael Vaughan, what have you become?
The Associates benefit too, don't forget. In all likelyhood Nannes would never have played for the Netherlands if the result would have been cap-tying him. He was too close to selection for the Australian team.
It's a similar situation to Rugby...
Re: Australia in New Zealand
Duckworth-Lewis is based on the theory that a side has two types of resources with which to chase runs - wickets and overs remaining. Thus a side with 50 overs and 10 wickets in hand has 100% of resources remaining, whereas if they have 0 wickets or 0 overs they...
Re: Tait giving the 'bird' to McCullum after bowling out Ingham
I know Watson is soooooooooo dreamy but if we could stay on topic that would be awesome.
kthnxbai.
Re: Tait giving the 'bird' to McCullum after bowling out Ingham
Yeah definitely sucks if he gets away with it, most athletes (not just Watson) would get hauled over the coals.
