I've said it before and given the current environment it needs to be considered - how do clubs join (and indeed leave) the subbies? I'm pretty sure it's not as simple as a club saying we want to join and the VSDCA saying we'll have you. I believe CV have some pretty important input to structural...

I think we all know where the VTCA sit on this. I doubt the compromise by CV will be on strategy which is essentially what having a tier above the regions is. I reckon they will compromise on makeup of the regions. Where Kingston council sits I reckon will be one thing that will change.

There'd still be a board - which is an extension of the current executives.

Correct – the $100K is given to the region towards a full time administrator, and associated costs. But surely the infrastructure in an existing comp is already there. The DDCA already have a HQ, and computers and mobiles etc – and their current executive/future board will continue to be paid...

Important thing is to remember that it isn’t the VSDCA or the VTCA who voting for it, nor does it need to happen in all 5 regions straight away. The DDCA and the ECA are essentially being given $100K to continue to operate business as usual – bar, as you say +/- a couple of clubs. They'd be mad...

Does St Kilda returning to Moorabbin have an effect on the potential merger. I can't imagine there'd be a hell of a lot of money for local grassroots sport (and to help Kingston Saints upgrade their ground) if $5m of council's sport budget is to assist a professional club move bases......again!!

It's my understanding that for clubs to join subbies it isn't as simple as the club wanting to join and the subbies finding a vacancy. A pretty important stakeholder has to vote in favour of new clubs joining the VSDCA and given the current environment that is simply not going to happen

A possible restructure was circulated with a few changes - non-aligned 2nds, an 18 team seconds comp and Port going to North. Then 12 hours later the presidents meeting was cancelled so goodness knows where that discussion was going to head

Joining the subbies is not an automatic, simple process - particularly given the current environment metro turf cricket finds itself in.

Plenty of other clubs in the same boat I reckon. Tullamarine's seconds copped plenty of thrashings including at least one outright in a day. Can't be good to be on the end of that each week. Perhaps if the VTCA got rid of aligned seconds - oh wait.............

Geez - on those numbers (and let's be honest I reckon most captains would spend 5 minutes looking at MyCricket to pick their teams) Kassis would have to be stiff!!!

Everything I heard said Highett were happy to go up, but wanted their 2nds to stay down given they had been smashed in most games - including being beaten 5 times outright in 7 completed 2 day games. VTCA said that if your 2nds don't go up, your 1s arent going up. They decided that it wasnt...

I'll put my cards on the table and say I'm a history nut, and I love cricket history. But, I can't see how the history of a competition (and I'm talking life members, association honour boards and individual trophies, and even just the fact that they exist) is something… · that individual...

It's probably a fair call. I think I've said earlier that they were opposed to it initially and then came up with reasons why they were opposed to it. Certainly not the way to do a proper analysis, in my opinion. (And ultimately it doesn't matter anyway, as it is the clubs' choice) The...

Yep. Initial releases from VTCA said they were against the restructure, based on maintaining their own self interests I believe. I reckon they realised it didn't really matter what they thought if the clubs wanted to join the CV model. As well as being, as you say contrary to their own rules of...

At the moment the WDCA and the DDCA are in favour Although the VTCA initially said they were against – they tempered that somewhat to say they were at "the direction of their clubs". The South clubs were almost unanimous in their approval – and from what I heard of the North meeting, there was a...

It was a weird decision last year, which has been 'rectified' by making another weird decision this year. Hopefully it is something we wont have to worry about in 16/17

It's one of the issues in the VTCA at the minute. Not so much the top divisions, but the real lack of depth at the bottom levels. The bigger clubs (like South Caulfield, Hampton, McKinnon etc) don’t have enough grades to play all of the teams they want to put out on the park. It is one of the...
