Re: IPL 2010 Season
You can add the Kings XI Punjab to that list as well. Take away Owais Shah and they have not scored too many.
Sides that look decent: Mumbai Indians, Kolkota Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore (Kallis looks in fine form :))
Re: Can india Win The World Cup T20
@brickwaller99
South Africa banned .... I think you are referring to Pakistan mate. The T20 World Cup/Championship is a lottery as proven in England.
However I think the wickets and the small grounds might suit India more than people are aware.
Re: Australia/NZ and the hosting of major tournaments
LtD mate enough with all the patting of the back. I agree to a degree with you but Australia can be rewarded with a home tournament as well. Home advantage may or may not have an influence in the performance.
Guys lets be honest if you...
Re: IPL 2010 Season
Eddie you raise some good points. As far as I understand the issue the tournament is capped as 6 weeks and they don't have 100s contracted as internationals. As to players using it as warmup for another tournament, you surely would have to have nets prior to playing right ...
Re: Tiwari, Rayadu prop Mumbai Indians to 200 plus score
They performed very well and I think they will lose their surprise value as teams will plan for them now. Both looked solid and played very impressively and in the end were the difference between the sides.
I think many Indian players...
Re: IPL 2010 Season
Eddie mate a window for domestic competitions make sense to me ... it stops all this club vs country nonsense.. Would it not be better to have all the contracted players for a side available instead of hearing about a coach not being available because his side is playing in...
Re: IPL 2010 Season
Great start for the Kinght Riders but the fielding is a problem, you cannot drop catches in these short formats. I find one thing very interesting is the they played at the DY Patil stadium which the ICC have suspended but the BCCI gave it a thumbs up.
14 games per...
Re: And the latest news in Pakistani Cricket...
The only reason the BCCI might get involved with the PCB is to work on on getting their icon series back from the dead. I hate to the messenger but I doubt if anyone will get involved in this shambles.
Re: Waqar Younis the new man in charge of Pakistan Cricket
Mas I think his personality might be a reason for all the madness. He is on the backfoot now more than ever.
Re: Australia/NZ and the hosting of major tournaments
Mate you hit the nail on its head. I think there are a number of factors though to keep in mind. The truth is that the television transmission times is a massive issue.
The time difference between the countries and the rest of the world is...
Re: Michael Vaughan, what have you become?
@LtD mate as far as I see it and my own opinion is that if you have played for one nation then you are not allowed to play for another. The English and Australia(Dirk Nannes) recently have benefited from the ruling that ICC associates who have...
Re: Michael Vaughan, what have you become?
Just a correction -> Kieswetter only played for SA U19 and then moved to England as far as I am aware he never played First Class cricket in South Africa.
Re: Michael Vaughan, what have you become?
LtD mate Vaughan is sounding more and more bitter or he wants a job from the ECB me thinks. The irony is that Pietersen and Strauss (both born in South Africa) we part of the victorious Ashes side, so they then should not have played.
The thing is...
Re: Waqar Younis the new man in charge of Pakistan Cricket
I must be honest, this is a political move from the Board and nothing else. He has no experience but has the younger players in awe of him. At least Ijaz Ahmed has dealt with the U19s during the world cup.
Look the cannot get worse but...
Re: ITV bags IPL rights in UK
A very shrewd move by the IPL as they are moving away from Skys dominance, I wonder if this is a once off or long term deal with ITV.
Re: IPL to air on Youtube
I have not heard anything to that effect yet but the US has a dedicated online tv provider (Willow TV ?) and I think it will most probably boil down to rights and who can show the content in certain geographical areas.
Re: Warm up games ?
I have had a look online and have found no real indication that there are any warm up matches for IPL3. However last year the teams played some games a week prior to the tournament and I suspect that they will do that again. I doubt that any of these matches will be televised.
Re: South Africa in India
could not agree more on the statement, the truth is that the South Africans need a small miracle to get a draw let alone make India bat again.. This is the price sides pay when you lose 8 wickets for 50 plus in India..
Re: South Africa in India
Today in Kolkota can only be defined as an Indian fight back. The South Africans got off to a bad start with Zaheer cleaning up Smiths wickets. Then it became the Amla and Petersen show and it was very impressive performance by both men. Petersen was added due to...
