Re: The simplyCricket Bat Clinic
The other day I noticed that the anti-scuff sheet on my bat had a small bit of it missing at the toe of the bat. The picture shows the bit that is missing and I was wondering what I should/could do about it; in terms of real life size it's about an inch long and...
Re: A Year of Scottish Cricket: Camp, injury and close finishes
Last week I went to a cricket camp in Edinburgh from Wednesday to Friday. The first two days were slightly dissappointing with fielding drills and nets being the order of the day. On the third day we did specific skills looking at...
Re: what age did you make the first team at ?
I'm 17 now and I made my debut for the 1st XI this year. I've played 2 games so far and I've only really been in when the senior bowlers have been unavailable. Hopefully next year I'll get a consistent place in the side.
Re: Player of the Month - August
Well I might as well put up my figures from the weekend. I scored 2 off 5 balls at the end of the innings before I edged one onto my stumps trying to belt it and hurt my leg in the process of running a quick single. As a result I bowled one over opening as usual...
Re: Captaincy?
Ricky Ponting's probably a bit of an exception because he's an amazing fielder as well as being skipper.
I think mas has got it spot on.
Re: Vaughan quits as England captain
It still leaves Cook as a candidate but he's fairly young and his ODI place isn't completely secure so yeah, KP has got to be favourite, but maybe Bell has an outside chance.
Re: What do Rotar cuffs do for speed?
Yeah we thought it might so I'm going to go see a physio about it. In terms of stuff to do I guess its just do lots of stuff that uses the muscles at the back of my right shoulder and all of my left shoulder specifically?
Re: Muralitharan v Warne v Kumble.
As a bowler I think Murali might just edge Warnie but I'd rather have Warne in my team for the other stuff he brings to the party, not just better batting ability but the impact he'd have on the team in terms of atmosphere, confidence and mentality.
Re: Is it time for Vaughan to go?
Literally this minute Vaughan announced his resignation as england captain. He's also "taking a break from the game" so I guess that means he won't be playing at the Oval for sure.
Strauss would be an option becuase he bats better when he's captain and Cook...
Re: Can't hit line or length?
See where you bowl the first ball and adjust (if it's too full, bowl it shorter) from there. I would say adjusting line and length was one of the main skills invloved in bowling.
Re: Shoaib Akhtar's action
I think there's a specific protocol with several steps that they have to go through, including a ban from bowling for a certain length of time so they can sort it out.
Re: What do Rotar cuffs do for speed?
Sorry for the delay but the camp was indoors anyway so even throwing it from one end of the hall to the other wasn't very far.
I mean I have bigger (less small?:p) muscles on my right shoulder than left, especially at the front. The bowling coach at the...
Re: harder to face left armers or right ?
We have a left arm spinner at my club and I find him pretty easy to pick, it's tougher to face him when he's bowling his pace stuff because he swings it sometimes and not others.
Re: The valleys and beyond - a season in Welsh cricket.
Sorry I wasn't very clear, I meant that a few steps of run up wouldn't make much difference to the time it takes when compared to the effect on the bowler.
