And you think we've got SO many good batsmen waiting out there to replace him? I don't see it. Very inconsistent players, yes, that we've got.
They'll stick with Smith now that Clarke is out. He's got a fair few games behind him now so hopefully will get more comfortable if they keep him away...
Considering you spoke about heartless batting, why would you leave Maxwell at 3? Do you think that he will prosper there in Australia due to the regular nature of the wickets? He appears to have no respect for test cricket in terms of batting or is being badly advised and is following that bad...
Marsh was a lot more confident against spin that I would have ever thought. His footwork was much improved and his temperament looks test match to a tee.
Well that test match was a bit of a shambles. I really wish the selectors would pick and stick, fed up to the gills with this ever-changing line-up. Maxwell made a fool of himself in both innings imo, but that's not his fault, I'm sure he was told to go out there and 'play his natural game'...
So it looks like Mitch Marsh is in the starting line-up. Big chance for him, though it will be tough if they decide to put out turners. Like most Aussie youngsters (and some of the oldsters) he's not crash hot against spin. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him though, Watson needs proper...
Marsh was the only one who could win it for the Aussies again by the time they were five down for stuff all, he's the least experienced and the youngest in the squad which says a lot about how the team has travelled.
Fantastic stuff from Steyn though. I wish just one of our bowlers had his...
Because he's the leading seamer? You'd expect him to bowl at the death. The whole team has looked somehow undergunned. Their fielding has been atrocious in these 2 games - Haddin one of the prime culprits - and that's a sign that confidence isn't high.
