    Off Spinning Guide

A shout out to any of the off-spinners on here... why do none of you seem to bowl around the wicket at right handers. You talk about getting cut all the time despite getting massive turn... yet to me the obvious thing to do being able to turn the ball as far as some have mentioned would be to...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

I think that if he feels like he isn't getting as much spin with a more open action, i would see if he is using his front arm properly :)

    Need Help With Leg Spin

get a red/white coloured ball (red one side, white the other) when you are learning, these help a lot with seeing how well you are releasing the ball.. Practice what you learn in the threads that shrek mentions, and keep spinning it hard. Any specific points you need help with, sing out...

    The Top-spinner (wrist Spin Bowling)

the reason the topspinner in my opinion has fallen by the way side is due to covered wickets, and slower wickets. covered wickets cause less natural variation off the wicket, and slower wickets tend not to bounce as much, or 'bite' at the gloves, therefore spin becomes more important.

Leg Breaks To Left Hand Batsman!

i really think it does come down to an accuracy thing based on what you say, it is much more dangerous for you to try and tuck a leggie who is bowling over the wicket than around if they can bowl the right lines.

    Cricket In England

thanks for the post SLA, interesting stuff. In Australia particularly i know batsmen like to use their feet and get at the ball, will be an interesting adjustment if players are sitting on the back foot. May have to do some serious work on the flipper then if that is the case!

Leg Breaks To Left Hand Batsman!

Do you think that it could be a viable option to have a go at you more often from around the wicket then? or do you think it makes it too easy to get tucked into gaps on the leg

Leg Breaks To Left Hand Batsman!

yes, i totally agree. There are many ways to make a batsman feel your presence and the pressure of being out in the middle, extroverted personalities are just one way of achieving this. Mallet and Grimmett impart the same pressure, purely through their cool calm persona, quietly landing the...

    ODI XI Selection Thread

People get far too obsessed about the men that can hit the ball a country mile yet can't defend. They are great when in form, out of form they are a waste of space, and might as well be playing bocce. Get a one day side with a few more players like the husseys in the batting order who can think...

Leg Breaks To Left Hand Batsman!

yeah, that psychology it takes to be a good spinner is huge, wanted to get that going again in another thread, its under rated, always mentioned briefly but never discussed enough! interesting that his pace varies, i find bowling around the wicket fixes my action if i am not getting through the...

Leg Breaks To Left Hand Batsman!

i treat lefties the same way tcs does i think, i find that if you get straight, to any left hander, they feel comfortable. not many left handers are very comfortable with a ball coming into them from outside off stump as they don't experience it very often.... vary the spin with them reaching...

Leg Breaks To Left Hand Batsman!

tell the captain to bring on the off spinner :P I dont like giving people a single... it takes the pressure off... dots get wickets.

    Psychology & Spin Bowling

it is amazing what that correct level of arousal does for your physical performance, i think it is something that many cricketers in general tend to neglect.

    Scar Tissue Reduction

what micoach says above is correct as far as i am aware (studied a sports science at uni and have heard similar things from the health community around the traps) so i would check that out.

    Pivot On Cement

what kind of shoe are you wearing? and do you think that you are thinking about the surface too much and that could be slowing your action down?

    Cricket In England

interesting, thanks SLA... do you find more sidespin or more overspin is beneficial in your stock ball on the softer wickets...against the batsmen over there :)

what do you change if a batsman is picking your googly and going through the off side with it?

Leg Breaks To Left Hand Batsman!

if your googly is well disguised i love the leg gully option...forward square leg with a shorter midwicket? let them try and take you on through the leg side if they are not picking you?
