I wonder if the Montmorency people on the DVCA exec abstained from the Vote on which ground was the best neutral venue in the DVCA?
Coincidence that Montmorency also hosted the Summer Smash finals as well?
Cannot work out how Rosanna didn’t get to host a GF at one of the best grounds in the DVCA, meanwhile Rosebank and Rivergum are hosting at 2 of the worst…..
mind boggling decision by the DVCA….
Mont hosting Barclay Shield, would have thought after refusing to host C grade Grand Final last year between Lower Plenty vs Plenty they would have been in the DVCA bad books…. However very strong Mont influence on the exec….
Also playing Shield Grand finals at Rosebank & Rivergum…. Both...
I dunno if you have looked around lately but the game is dying at grass roots level
Lower Eltham are competing with Eltham, Mont, Lower Plenty within 4km of each other. They don’t have a footy club connected to it so will always be at a disadvantage to their competitors
The points cap was...
It’s actually sad to see a highly successful club on its knees in this manor.
Going to be bloody difficult to see them return to the higher levels of the DVCA.
Also just shows what a debacle the points cap situation is the comp have implemented the last 2 years. A club like lower Eltham...
It’s all about communication and the Dvca asleep at the wheel again….
All well and good to inform the clubs, but the DVCA need to lift their game in regards to communication via social media
Couldn’t agree more
Well done to Flacky for reaching out to Daz and both parties working together
Let’s be honest cricket needs a real shot in the arm to be relevant and this is a great initiative
Horrible result for all if that is the case. For a traditional DVCA club to be in that plight is not a good sign for the future of cricket.
Do DVCA make a quick amendment to the fixture and promote teams up?
This was communicated to all clubs with one on one meetings a few months ago. And the overall reception from most clubs was positive.
It’s not just fixtures, but the comp will have a dedicated Cricket Victoria Appointed Administrator who will administer the comp.
A small levy will be applied...
Hypothetically anyone coming back to your junior club from Premier , Subbies or VTCA is a 1 pointer.
However if they stopped by another DVCA club in between they become a 3 pointer.
My opinion is once you become a 1 point player you should always hold that status.
The whole thing is a mess...
Something that is going to become a real talking point is the points system.
The logic behind it is ok in theory, however all it is going to do is make struggling clubs less competitive for longer.
Let’s use Thomastown United as an example and by no means is this meant to sound disrespectful...
Not in the slightest.
I have no doubt that all the grades would be more even across the board if their was more movement up and down
100% this
I think there is an air of inevitability in that we will lose 2 day cricket from below E grade. In saying that we currently have G grade as allocated...
