Adam Yates appointed captain-coach of Altona. Interesting appointment considering RPB finished 3rd last in the 1st XI (from runners-up) and just above Sunshine in the club champs.
Pretty sure he wouldn't write his own press release so not sure he can control communications from the club.
Interesting that he stayed in Subbies considering his stated aim of going to Premier Cricket.
Will be interesting to see if Tom Stray goes to Bayswater with fellow former Ringwood captains in Osborne and Flynn. Here's hoping he does!
Rummans in Subbies could be nightmarish for bowlers!
No news on the Mitch Johnston front. Looks like most Subbies clubs out in the west have coaches...
Fully aware of that. Doesn't mean it is fair and equitable though. Particularly when some grounds have inferior covers to other grounds which greatly reduces the likelihood of play.
It's a joke how the games that did not get on yesterday won't be rescheduled to the reserve day. How can we have a fair and equitable competition when the VSDCA wet weather committee knew full well yesterday that some games wouldn't get on?
At the time of the fixture being finalised, Friday October 2nd wasn't officially a public holiday. This has only been confirmed in the last few weeks by the state government. The VSDCA couldn't have acted on a whim and a prayer that the Friday was going to be a public holiday as they would have...
Not sure you would call a bloke playing Premier 1st XI at the club who eventually won the premiership a 'low grade one time district seamer' my friend.
Interesting get for Moorabin with Saliya Ahangama as coach. Comes with good pedigree but is coming from a long way behind.
I've heard that Subbies will start their season the day before AFL GF (this is now a public holiday). Anyone else heard similar?
As you said in a previous post, the key thing in all of this is that no one is the wiser as to CV's long term strategic plan, and consequently players and clubs are making decisions with an element of the unknown.
Looks to be no malice between the Johnstone and RPB separation, but just...
New to the forum and trying to catch up on all things Subbies. Seems like there is a lot going on at the moment with Cricket in our state.
Interesting and insightful take Ben. Your passion for Subbies is evident, however I wonder if your view of the clubs in line for Premier Cricket promotion...
