    The Back-Lift???

Re: The Back-Lift??? I'd really be interested in what the current high performance coaching thoughts are on grip and set up. I've overheard some talk that suggests that there have been some recent changes in preferred methods, especially bottom hand grips. Does anyone know?

    Bowling problem - video

Re: Bowling problem - video Thanks Akkers. I have a digital mini DV cam and won't be upgrading for a while. But i semi suspected that i needed to make better use of the Sports mode rather than the automatic set up i've been using. Will play around and see if i can get clearer slo mo that way.

    Help plzz!!

Re: Help plzz!! I've always understood that the top hand should be the control - ie be the firmer of the two hands and should control the pick up. Even agressive batsmen talk about the top hand as the stronger of the two. I believe that the famous squash ball, in the bottom handed glove...

    Bowling problem - video

Re: Bowling problem - video I'd like to help but pace is not my strength. I liked the video quality though, I can't get the slo-mo clear enough on mine. What are you using akkers and any tips?

    Wrist Spin Bowling

Re: Wrist Spin Bowling Interesting point. The same here in Oz, (the ACT anyway). Lot's of junior leggies out there, but teams have to manufacture off spinners from batsmen. We end up with teams with part time offspinners - usually who just dart the ball in to restrict runs. So in essence there...

    Batting grip

Re: Batting grip Thanks Mas for the input. An oval handle might be part of the next bat purchase, providing I can find them in a ready made bat. don't know how common they are hear in Oz.

    Batting grip

Re: Batting grip Jacko, those stats don't surprise me. I've seen local representative juniors at 13/14 yrs old in the nets and nearly all of the batsmen have grip or set up issues. Right grip, right set-up = less risk = last longer = more runs. i noticed someone mentioned that the grip...

    Wrist Spin Bowling

Re: Wrist Spin Bowling Mystery Spinner, Middle and leg if your turning well. Off/just outside if your not. Around the wicket you can get away with more leg-side as the angle helps slant it across to slips. But asomeblokecalleddave says you need to adjust depending on the batsmen's attitude...

Help with facing fast bowlers !!!

Re: Help with facing fast bowlers !!! Work with a bowling machine if you can get access. Set it up outside off to start (no danger of being hit) and over the session ramp up the speed slowly. You'll be surprised how comfortable and confident you get facing fast bowling. Then move it in...

    Batting grip

Re: Batting grip After coaching Junior cricket for a while, if I could only teach batsmen one thing it would be the orthodox grip. Those that get the orthodox grip right the earliest (See Jonesy picture back a page), and learn to play the full range of shots using it, are the ones who develop...

    Help with Leg Spin??

Re: Help with Leg Spin?? Agree 100 %. Tracking the ball down from above the eyeline is what confuses a lot of batsmen. Warne and Jenner stress this. Warne says one of his key thought processes is to spin up. He also says this is partly due to his habit of dropping the bowling arm too low. The...

    Help with Leg Spin??

Re: Help with Leg Spin?? Trust me it's worth it. Paying highly credentialled coaches $80 an hour to tell my son exactly what I watch on that DVD. For 13 pounds you can do it yourself. Of course coaches add a lot of other stuff like experience and problem recognition.

    Help with Leg Spin??

Re: Help with Leg Spin?? Sorry Mystery Spinner that last message was for you. Ripping Leg Break, I'm not sure about back problems for mixed actions with spinners being a risk, but certainly with pace bowlers i've seen kids as young as 12/13 have back problems because of their mixed actions. If...

    Help with Leg Spin??

Re: Help with Leg Spin?? Ripping Leg Break, I came about my copy from an English friend who is an ECB Coach living out here in Australia, so I'm not sure who is able to purchase it or whether they will send it overseas but i can't see why not. This site...

    Help with Leg Spin??

Re: Help with Leg Spin?? I agree, a video would be really useful. Without a video can you desribe your action. This is how i would have decribed my son Alex's action, that produced all the same problems that you have. Does your action look like this? An action that stops at the top with a...

    Help with Leg Spin??

Re: Help with Leg Spin?? Yep, follow through was certainly the issue at this end. I expect that as you get the follow through happening, you will flatten out your deliveries. But this really is essential because with a good delivery stride and follow through you will achieve more power. If...

    Help with Leg Spin??

Re: Help with Leg Spin?? My son has had all the same issues and is working through them now. He was bowling too flighty and slow. His bad ball was a full toss. He didn't have a follow through either. When he was younger, and even now against poorer batsmen, it doesn't matter but bowling slow...
