1st ODI: New Zealand vs Australia at Wellington

The first game in the Chappell-Hadlee series is underway.

So far, it has been a disaster for Australia. They sit at 7/120 after 43.1 overs. I'm not sure what the pitch is like but New Zealand have bowled very well.

Michael Hussey is the only batsmen with a decent contriubtion and his 42 was off a staggering 96 balls. Brad Hodge made 22 and not a lot can be said about the rest.

Shane Bond has 3/14 and Daniel Vettori 2/22.

Australia all out for 148 in the 50th over. Brad Hogg lifted Australia to that score with a hard fought 20 showing what most of the batsmen should have done.

Shane Bond finishes with 5/23.

This is turning into an absolute blowout!!!

New Zealand is 85-0 after 17 overs, they only need 64 more runs to win.


No Ponting, no Lee, no Gilchrist, no Clarke, no chance!

Australia are badly out of form. When they were batting i thought it may have been the pitch and the conditions, but no, Australia are continuing their horrible run of form.

New Zealand wins with 149-0 after 27 overs!

Both Fleming and Vincent finish unbeaten.
This is Australia's first ever ODI that they've lost by 10 wickets!

I cant understand why we are over there - maybe it should have been called an Australia A team and we might not feel so bad.

But a run of losses against teams ranked lower than 4 is not the ideal prep for the world cup - which we were told was what the ODI's this summer have been about!

I cant see us over there with a confident, fit, full strength side at this point in time.
