Re: 1st ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Been a good effort from South Africa so far, Graeme Smith was the first to fall for 34 after being run-out by Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal.

Kallis fell to Shahid Afridi for eight and is the only wicket that has been taken by a bowler.

Herschelle Gibbs brought up his century but was just run-out for 102 to leave South Africa at 3/236 in the 44th over. AB de Villiers is 67 not out with the dangerous Justin Kemp on 1.

Re: 1st ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore

Pakistan's poor start cost them any chance of winning this game. After being 4/55, they were always behind the eight ball and while they managed to put up a decent fight, they were always playing catch-up cricket.

Mohammad Yousuf scored 55 to put them on the road to recovery with Shahid Afridi smashing a late 47 to give them a sniff. But when Afridi fell, Pakistan needed 13 an over with only one wicket in hand. Kamran Akmal made a solid 35 and Sohail Tanvir showed he can bat making 26 off 17 in his debut ODI.

Ntini was the destroyer and although very expensive took 4/69. Jacques Kallis too took a hammering finishing with 2/47 off only five overs. Charl Langeveldt picked up 2/53 and Albie Morkel was his restrictive best with 1/18 off 6 overs.

A calming win for South Africa in the end, Afridi would have worried them a bit with his whirlwind innings but once he was gone that was it as far as the match was concerned.

Next game of the series is on Saturday.

AB de Villiers was Man of the Match.
