1st ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Karachi

Zimbabwe got a win against West Indies in their last series, can they pick up another here? Pakistan is missing a whole handful of bowlers, so there might be an opening for Zimbabwe to exploit.

Prosper Utseya won the toss and chose to field first.

Pakistan is missing the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Sami, Danish Kaneria, and Umar Gul. Meanwhile Zimbabwe have a couple veterans return, Taibu and Price.

All the commentators and announcers seem very surprised by the decision to bowl first from Zimbabwe.

Pakistan 45-1 after 8.

So far it's been the Nasir Jamshed show! He's up to 41!
And he was responsible for the runout too. Salman Butt hit an easy single, but for some reason Jamshed didn't run, and they both wound up at the same end.

Nasir Jamshed out for 61, he was going for it, and Zimbabwe finally caught him.

85-2 after 14.3 overs.


Safe to say he'll get some more chances in this series!

Younis and Yousuf are the best partnership in the world.
Younis is up to 77 and Yousuf is at 44.

Pakistan looks to be headed to a score over 300.

Don't know how many runs Zimbabwe will score when they bat, but I'm already willing to describe this as a dominant victory.

They're just making sure the crowd gets its money's worth. ;)

Zimbabwe reached 7/243 off their 50 overs. Vusi Sibanda scored 59 off 54 balls but once he was dismissed, it was pretty much game over for Zimbabwe. Sean Williams and Chamu Chibhabha both scored 52 but nowhere near the rate which was required.

Shoaib Malik was the most effective Pakistan bowler with 3/34 and Shahid Afridi chipped in with 2/33.

This game had eight half centuries in it which makes it a ODI record for the most half centuries in an ODI game. Pakistan's 5 50's in one innings was also a record I think.

Debutant Nasir Jamshed was named Man of the Match for his 61 off 48 balls.

The next game between the two sides will be at Hyderabad on January 24.
