1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

The ODI series starts now. West Indies had a good start to the test series, but a terrible finish. Will they put up a fight today, or will it be another blowout?

edit: okay, maybe it won't start just yet, it's raining, but not heavily

West Indies are 15-0 after 3 overs.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

West Indies 46-2 after 11 overs, both openers gone.

Not exactly a stellar scoring rate considering it's only 36 overs today, but maybe Samuels and Chanderpaul can get something going.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

West Indies 71-4 after 18 overs, which is the half-way point in this match.

Bravo and Morton are in there now. Somebody needs to start scoring some runs if they're going to put up a competitive score.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

Morton and Sammy are trying to put together a late partnership here.
They're 116-6 after 28.4 overs. Morton is the top scorer so far with 30.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

135-6 after 32 overs.

West Indies best partnership of the day, good for 54 so far.
Morton up to 39, Sammy at 19.

Sadly, it looks like they're not heading for a competitive score.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

Morton run out for 41.

West Indies 150-7 with 15 deliveries to go.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

Sammy!!!

He hit a 6, and then on the next ball he hit another 6, but it was also a no ball, so it's listed as a 7 on cricinfo!

22 runs from that over

West Indies 173-7 after 35, and Sammy has his half century!

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

Three straight wickets in the last over! But 2 of them were run-outs, so no hat trick.

West Indies all out for 174.

Nice partnership from Sammy and Morton, but it's going to be pretty tough to stop South Africa from reaching 175.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion

It was a far closer match than I thought it would be.
South Africa won with 12 balls to spare, 176-4 after 34 overs.
Thanks mostly to the star of the match, Jean-Paul Duminy, who finished on 79 not out.
