1st ODI: Zimbabwe v Bangladesh

Well, guess what, Bangladesh are about to start off yet another in their seemingly endless series with Zimbabwe today.

The first ODI should be getting underway right about now, but apparently it's raining down in Harare right now.

Bangladesh batting first, 30-0 after 9 overs.

Re: 1st ODI: Zimbabwe v Bangladesh

Bangladesh managed 9/260 off their 50 overs. Habibul Bashar scored 78 runs and was well supported by Saqibul Hasan who scored 68. Their were also some smaller contributions from the top order.

Andrew Ireland bowled well for Zimbabwe, taking 3/41 off his 10 overs. Chris Mpofu picked up 2/39 as ther Zimbabwe openers bowled well.

But unfortunately the Zimbabwe innings has become a block-fest. No real urgency at all and the Zimmers have struggled to 2/107 off 32 overs. Sibanda scored 47 but it was off 79 balls and Chibhabha has 40 but off an agonizing 90 balls.

And to make matters worse, Cricinfo is displaying this message,

We apologise for the delay in updates from this match. We have been unable to get any accreditation to send journalists to Harare Sports Club and there is no television coverage available outside Zimbabwe. We were expecting coverage inside the country but it has not materialised. We are updating the card as often as possible.

Tough times for Zimbabwe cricket.

thats an understatment, but at the same time, how people would want to go there and cover the game?

Re: 1st ODI: Zimbabwe v Bangladesh

Zimbabwe all out for 215 after 48 overs. Mortaza took 4 wickets.

Bangladesh won by 45 runs and take an early lead in the series 1-0. They're off to a better start than their last trip to Zimbabwe.

Out of sight, out of mind

Cop that ZC.

He does raise the interesting point of where all the ICC money goes. Especially given they didn't run a domestic comp last year or play in any test matches. Also, what controls does the ICC have over the money once they give it over to ensure it's not spent by corrupt officials.

With three tours coming up this year by Aus, RSA & the WI, Zimbabwe Cricket would be well advised in my opinion, to spend whatever they have on getting at least 3 exiled players including Taibu back and with fair team in place, earn a decent crust through TV rights to those countries.
