2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

The first game was washed out so we really can't gauge on how these sides are truly going. Jayasuriya was at his brilliant best as usual in the first game but the rest remain unknown as to how good or bad they are playing.

India still have their injury problems. Irfan Pathan and Yuvraj Singh are still not fit to play despite taking part in the team training session, neither player bowled a ball during the training run. Ajit Agarkar is on medication to right himself from the flu which he is still suffering from. Sri Lanka are most likely to go in with an unchanged team after batting reasonably well for the short period of time in game one.

What makes this game more interesting is the fact that both sides will name their 15-man World Cup squads at the end of the game. Big question marks hang over who will be taken to the Caribbean with players from both sides not getting much of an opportunity to impress selectors. This second match gives them an ideal opportunity to express their case for a ticket to the Caribbean.

Should be a good game this one. The chance to go one-up on the opponent is there but the players will also have that World Cup carrot dangled in front of them once again.

India XI (likely): 1 Robin Uthappa, 2 Sourav Ganguly, 3 Virender Sehwag, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 Rahul Dravid*, 6 Dinesh Karthik, 7 Mahendra Singh Dhoni+, 8 Harbhajan Singh, 9 S Sreesanth, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 Munaf Patel.

Sri Lanka XV: 1 Mahela Jayawardene*, 2 Sanath Jayasuriya, 3 Upul Tharanga, 4 Kumar Sangakkara+, 5 Marvan Atapattu, 6 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 7 Chamara Silva, 8 Russel Arnold, 9 Upul Chandana, 10 Farveez Maharoof, 11 Lasith Malinga, 12 Dilhara Fernando, 13 Malinga Bandara, 14 Nuwan Zoysa, 15 Nuwan Kulasekera.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

What little we saw in the first game looked entertaining. Let's see if Jayasuriya can keep it up in this one.

Oh, and I really hope the rain stays away, since I've already been charged for the pay-per-view. :p

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Sreesanth gets run over by Atapattu while both were watching the ball, and then comes back and gets Tharanga on the very next ball!

Sri Lanka 31-2 after 5.5

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Sri Lanka in trouble at 58-4

Jayawardene hit one that bounced off of Ganguly's fingers and went stright to Dhoni who held on.
Ganguly might be hurt.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Ganguly is fine, he just bowled an over.

Sri Lanka 64-4 after 15.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Decent partnership brewing here between Sangakkara and Dilshan.
116-4 after 25

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

149-4 after 32

Sangakkara has his 50 and Sri Lanka have their recovery after a shaky start. This partnership is good for 91 runs so far.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Harbhajan bowls Dilshan for 56

166-5 after 35.3

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Sri Lanka have progressed to 6/212 off 45 overs. Sangakkara is really holding the innings together and is still at the crease on 85. Dilshan was out for 56.

Sreesanth and Patel have two wickets each.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Sri Lanka got to 8/257 in the end, a very good effort after the start that they had. Sangakkara was out for 110, his sixth ODI century, a very fine effort there.

Munaf Patel finished with 4/49 and was on a hat-trick after claming the wickets of Sangakkara and Maharoof in consecutive balls.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Great innings from Sangakkara. India will have to work for this one.

We'll see how Uthappa starts. Ganguly was off the field for a while. Hopefully he'll bat.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Tendulkar and Ganguly have taken India to 114-2 after 20.
They seem to be well on their way so far. Sri Lanka need to make a breakthrough soon. Real soon.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs Sri Lanka at Rajkot

Wow, what an absolute thriller!

India was ahead for just about the whole match, but then lost their way in the last over, and Dhoni was caught on the next to last ball.

Sri Lanka won by 5 runs!
