2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh at Colombo (RPS)

Game 2 is underway and it has been the same old story so far. Sri Lanka sent the Bangladesh side in and so far they have reaped the rewards of winning that toss.

Lasith Malinga ripped through the Bangladesh top order early taking 3/12 in a devastating five-over spell. Farveez Maharoof just removed Tushar Imran as Bangladesh have slipped to 4/30 after 16 overs, scoring at less than two runs per over.

Malinga and Maharoof have been very accurate, bowling five maidens between them.

Sri Lanka XI: ST Jayasuriya, WU Tharanga, KC Sangakkara+, DPMD Jayawardene*, LPC Silva, TM Dilshan, J Mubarak, MF Maharoof, CM Bandara, SL Malinga, CRD Fernando

Bangladesh XI: Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Tushar Imran, Mushfiqur Rahim+, Mohammad Ashraful*, Aftab Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan, Farhad Reza, Abdur Razzak, Syed Rasel, Shahadat Hossain

At the half way mark the games looks to be all but over with teh abismal Bangladesh just making 137 off 46.5 overs. Aftab Ahmed top scored with 47 off 85, Mohammad Ashraful got 29 off 59 and Sakib Al Hasan made 15 off 26. The rest of the batsmen failed to reach double figures.

For the bowlers the highlight was Jayasuriya taking 4/31 off 9.5 overs. His fourth wickets was the 300th ODI wicket of his career which is a great effort. Malinga took 3/22 off 9 with Maharoof and Bandara claiming one each and there was also a run out.

The chase should be a formality for Sri Lanka with the game likely to end between the 20 and 30 over mark of Sri Lanka's innings.

Sri Lanka take reach the win in 31.1 overs with 5 wickets to spare. This wraps the 3 match series up for then but they will be looking to make it a clean sweap in game 3.

The best of the batsmen were Chamara Silva who made 36 off 49, Tharanga 28 off 25, Jayasuriya 24 off 39 and Dilshan 20 not out off 41. No outstanding efforts there but good contributions all round except for Sangakkara 6 and Jayawardene 7.

For Bangladesh Rasel took 2 and singles to Hossain, Razzak and Ashraful.

That wraps up game 2, hopefully game three more competitive but the way Bangladesh are going it is looking doubtful.
