2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

England's top order failed again as Sri Lanka's bowlers took control early. Sri Lanka's pace battery reduced England to 4/61 before Paul Collingwood and Owais Shah came together.

Collingwood scored 42 but Shah went on with and was out for 84 in the last over. Graeme Swann made a late 34.

Maharoof was Sri Lanka's best bowler taking 3/30, Dilhara Fernando snared 2/45.

Looks to be a promising chase. England will need to get some early wickets to halt Sri Lanka's progress in the first 10 overs.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

Sidebottom gets Tharanga for 8.

1/9 in the 2nd over.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

Jayasuriya smashes it but straight to Ian Bell at cover giving Ryan Sidebottom his second wicket.

2/21 in the 6th over. Kumar Sangakkara has been dropped twice already.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

Sri Lanka 34-2 after 12 overs, chasing England's score of 234-8.

But what will happen when Sidebottom and Anderson are done bowling? Will the rest of England's bowlers be able to match their numbers? I think someone is going to prove to be the weak link, and Sri Lanka will target that bowler.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

Well so much for that theory. Broad comes in and gets Sangakkara in his first over. Sri Lanka 38-3 after 13 and it looks like the rest of England's bowlers may do just fine too.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

Broad gets Silva for a first-baller and finds himself on a hat-trick.

Sri Lanka in trouble at 4/38.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

Dilshan is bowled by Swann for 29 off 29. Dilshan was looking good too, a big wicket for England.

And now Jayawardene is out to Paul Collingwood.

6/90 now, should only be a matter of time.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

Maharoof hits a catch straight back to Swann who takes it low to the ground.

7/121 in the 33rd over. Vaas is the new bastman and probably their last hope.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

And now Vaas is out, this should be over quite soon.

8/126 in the 35th.

Mubarak is still going strong on 25, can he help himself to a 50 like Dhoni did the other day?

EDIT: Spoken like a true psychic, Malinga is run-out for a diamond duck (that's run-out with facing a ball). 9/126. All falling apart for Sri Lanka.

Re: 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka vs England at Dambulla

England ended up winning by 65 runs, pretty commanding and convincing performance from the young bowlers with Broad, Sidebottom and Swann picking up two-apiece. Paul Collingwood picked up a couple as well and there were two run-outs. James Anderson was the unlucky bowler not claiming anything in the fourth column.

Mubarak ended up hanging around for a well made 44 and Dilhara Fernando stuck around for 20 but the end result was inevitable after the Englishmen toppled the Sri Lankan batsmen in under 25 overs when they were 6-90.
