3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Australia at Hamilton

New Zealand have overpowered Australia so far in this series and have played very good cricket to get their 2 game lead. There is just one game remaining in this series and Australia would be looking for some pride. They've already lost the series and their number one ranking in the ODI format, something which hasn't happened since the rankings system was brought in back in 2002.

Australia have looked ordinary and have been ordinary for the past couple of weeks, something that you wouldn't want to happen right beofre their World Cup defence. The quest to get their campaign back on track starts now and I suspect they'll be wanting to win this game desperately.

New Zealand, having already won the series, have decided to rest Shane Bond and Daniel Vettori who have slight, niggling injuries.

Australia have also made a few changes. Phil Jaques has been dropped with Glenn McGrath having a rest. Mitchell Johnson replaces him and Adam Voges will come into the side to make his international debut.

Should see a good game here. Game 2 was good but game 3 should be better.

New Zealand: Lou Vincent, Stephen Fleming*, Ross Taylor, Scott Styris, Peter Fulton, Craig McMillan, Brendon McCullum+, James Franklin, Mark Gillespie, Jeetan Patel, Daryl Tuffey

Australia XI: Matthew Hayden, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin+, Michael Hussey*, Brad Hodge, Cameron White, Adam Voges (international debut), Brad Hogg, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken, Shaun Tait

Umpires: Aleem Dar and Gary Baxter
3rd Umpire: TBA

Weather:

(All Temperatures in Degrees Celcius)

Partly Cloudy, 23.

Will,

When a team like NZ targets our champion bowler is it any wonder he is out resting. The guy is frustrated. I am confident that Mitch Johnson will do what he has been asked to do.

Re: 3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Australia at Hamilton

After a rather decent start, Australia managed to pick up the run rate greatly at the end of the innings and score a massive 5/346 off their allotted 50 overs.

The star of the innings was Matthew Hayden who finished up undefeated on 181 not out. His brilliant innings spanned the whole 50 overs and included 11 fours and 10 sixes, just one six away from equalling the world record held by Shahid Afridi and Sanath Jayasuriya.

Earlier, Hayden and Shane Watson opened the batting and had a 122-run stand of which Watson contributed 68 runs. Brad Haddin got 38 and debutant Adam Voges finished the innings unbeaten with 16 runs.

Hayden's innings was alos the highest by an Australian in an ODI beating Mark Waugh's previous record of 173.

None of the New Zealand bowlers were left alone bar James Franklin who bowled well considering the scoreline with 0/43 off 10 overs. Jeetan Patel and Mark Gillespie took 2/70 and 2/83 respectively with Daryl Tuffey getting the other wicket.

A mammoth total posted by Australia but will they have the bowling depth to be able to defend it? They couldn't possibly mess this up again but they have a habit of losing when scoring big totals first.

Re: 3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Australia at Hamilton

Everyone got smacked except Bracken and Hogg, McMillan and McCullum blasting New Zealand to their third victory.

Re: 3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Australia at Hamilton

Pretty crap effort with the ball again. Bracken bowled well except for that horrble last over and Hogg was okay. Tait's second spell was a lot better also.

Really, really struggling with the ball lately. The batting is very, very good but our bowlers are really letting us down. Need to get McGrath and the injured Lee back in there to get back some balance.

Not again....

Yup, again...and again...and again! Five ODI losses in a row!
Couldn't defend 346! Kiwis were 41-4...and still won! Simply put:
the Bandis plain STINK! ICC should force them to play some qualifiers
against a couple of crappy associate teams to prove they even DESERVE
to be in the WC.

If the Bandis stunk, they wouldn't have scored 346 or taken 4/41 at the start of the match to begin with. New Zealand is a good team. Australia's bowling is a worry at the moment, but Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds are injured.
