A Plyometrics Blog
Hi all,
This close season (UK) I am planning on doing a course of plyometrics to improve my explosiveness. I am mainly focusing on the legs, but to ensure an all round fitness level will include upper body exercises.
The reason for doing this is I had an ACL reconstruction in my left knee a few years ago and never really recovered. Now I want to get some stability and strength back as my left leg is my landing leg and currently affecting my bowling performance.
My plan is to do two days a week of plyometrics. I will be doing other fitness training as well, such as aerobic and weight training, but all of this will be logged.
I am going to measure my performance every three weeks to track my progress. The tests I plan to use for assesment are the sargeant jump and standing broad jump, 2 leg and 1 leg (1 leg will be used to asses like for like test results between right and left leg). If any body has any other good ways of assesment please let me know. I will also be comparing these to standard population results. I have managed to find some results to use but if anyone has some reliable sets of data for the assesments please let me know.
Anyway if you have any plyometric exercises that you would like me to adopt and add in to my programme let me know. I am planning to start wc 1st September. If you are interested I am following the 12 week plyometric programme as described in the book High-powered Plyometrics by J.C. Radcliffe & R.C. Farentinos. The programme is designed for Cricket.
Your input and support is welcomed. Many thanks.
