ACC Premier League: Malaysia v Hong Kong, Nov 3-5

Forgot about this match, of course, it's not quite as important as the UAE/Nepal one.
This one is being played in Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia was all out for 175 after 58 overs.
Afzaal Haider took 8-50 for Hong Kong!!!!!!! Can't argue with those numbers!

Hong Kong ended Day 1 at 105-5 after 32.1 overs in their chase.
Pretty even match after Day 1.

Day 2 was much more one-sided, in Hong Kong's favor.
After being 105-5 overnight, they batted strongly, led by Irfan Ahmed's 141, and declared at 307-8.

In reply, Malaysia are 92-3 in their second innings, still trailing by 40 runs.

Hong Kong should have a fairly small target to chase down when they bat again on Day 3. Likely no more than 100 or so runs.

Update: I guess the earlier score was "in progress"

According to the Malaysian Cricket Association article, they finished Day 2 at 119-3.

So they trail by 13 runs, and still have 7 wickets to play with to try to build a decent total on the thrid and final day.

Day 2 was still in Hong Kong's favor, but Malaysia can hold out some hope for a decent result in this match.

Lunch on Day 3: Malaysia is 252-8 in their second innings.

So they lead by 120 with 2 wickets remaining.
Hong Kong won't have a super huge target to chase. The only question is whether or not they'll have enough time.

Malaysia 175 & 252-8
Hong Kong 307-8d

Malaysia made it to 270.

So Hong Kong needs 139 to win.
So far they're 92-3. Looks like it'll still be a fairly comfortable win for HK.

Re: ACC Premier League: Malaysia v Hong Kong, Nov 3-5

Hong Kong now 104-5. They only need 35 more runs, but the latest update may be ominous, as it says "bad light threatening".

Re: ACC Premier League: Malaysia v Hong Kong, Nov 3-5

Tough luck for Hong Kong, as no more play was possible. They finished just 35 runs short of winning. Irfan Ahmed was the man of the match for his batting, beating out Afzaal Haider's 10 wickets.
