ACC Premier League: Singapore/UAE & Malaysia/UAE

the schedule for the final 2 matches of the 2006 ACC premier League:
Singapore v UAE Singapore 2-4 March 2007
Malaysia v UAE Malaysia 6-8 March 2007

The ground in Singapore was unplayable due to heavy rain. The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Honestly, I don't have the slightest idea what that means with regards to points from that match. Obviously, though, the final match between Malaysia and UAE still has great meaning.

Here were the standings coming into the final 2 matches:
Code:
Team P W L D Batting Bowling [U]Total Points[/U]
Nepal 4 2 1 1 30.5 37 95.5
Hong Kong 4 0 2 2 27 33 60
Singapore 3 1 2 0 19.5 25.5 59
Malaysia 3 1 0 2 19 24.5 57.5
U.A.E. 2 1 0 1 18 14 46

We'll see if the match between UAE and Malaysia has better luck with the weather.

If the game is abandoned then I'm pretty sure the points will be split in half. If it is 14 points for a win then both sides will recieve seven points each.

Re: ACC Premier League: Singapore/UAE & Malaysia/UAE

each team got 10 points, so heading into the final match, it was:

Code:
Team P W L D Batting Bowling [U]Total Points[/U]
Nepal 4 2 1 1 30.5 37 95.5
Singapore 4 1 2 1 19.5 25.5 [COLOR="Red"]69[/COLOR]
Hong Kong 4 0 2 2 27 33 60
Malaysia 3 1 0 2 19 24.5 57.5
U.A.E. 3 1 0 2 18 14 [COLOR="Red"]56[/COLOR]

UAE crushed Malaysia in the final match. (scorecard)
Malaysia lost to UAE by an innings and 61 runs, Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia 181 (69.4 overs) & 100 (43.1 overs)
UAE 342-8 dec (88.1 overs)

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the final standings might be:
Code:
Team P W L D Batting Bowling [U]Total Points[/U]
Nepal 4 2 1 1 30.5 37 95.5
U.A.E. 4 2 0 2 24.5 24 85.5
Singapore 4 1 2 1 19.5 25.5 69
Malaysia 4 1 1 2 24.5 28.5 67
Hong Kong 4 0 2 2 27 33 60

So if there's a final, Nepal will play UAE for the title.
If there isn't a final, then Nepal has won it outright.

Re: ACC Premier League: Singapore/UAE & Malaysia/UAE

Word out of Asia is that there will be no final, and Nepal is the champion on points.

Here's the report from asiancricket.org.
Here's the report from cricketnepal.com.

Interesting that there will be no Premier League this year. Some sort of Twenty20 Cup instead. I'd guess these will be the "top 10" countries:
UAE, Nepal, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Afghanistan,
Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and either Saudi Arabia or Oman.

Though with the Twenty20 World Championships coming up later this year, is it possible that India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will be the final 4 countries instead?

Duh, all I had to do was look for this webpage.
Looks like final 4 will be Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman.
