Africa Cup?

Meanhwile, the ACA executive meeting has decided to postpone the ACA Cup to May next year.

from this article http://allafrica.com/stories/200611120004.html

I think this is referring to the Africa Cup that was originally going to happen in December and then seemed to be forgotten about.

Teams to play are South Africa "A", Zimbabwe "A", Kenya, Namibia, Uganda and Tanzania.

Re: Africa Cup?

well it sounded like it would have been good for Namibia, Uganda and Tanz to get quality matches in. maybe they all forgot about it too and thats why they canceled it :)

Re: Africa Cup?

Thanks for the update. I was wondering about this tournament, but I figured it might be one of those things where they only finalized the details a week beforehand.

EDIT: I just realized, this is going to have to be scheduled so it doesn't interfere with Uganda's and Tanzania's participation in WCL Div 3 next year.

Re: Africa Cup?

Cricket Kenya confirmed that this has been cancelled. the reason they were given: insufficient planning time!
This now means that Kenya, who had intended to use the tournament as a warm up for the visiting Europeans and WCL in Jan have to go through December without any competetive cricket. CK are not happy, but not much they can do about it.
Hopefully it will mean focus will now concentrate on the domestic set up...

Re: Africa Cup?

Chemosit,

What about a series between Namibia and Kenya during December?

Namibia have no more games in South African Domestic cricket until January and they are certainly in excellent form.

They are indeed. It's too bad they have to wait until late next year to play in the WCL Div 2. They look great right now.

It would be good, but I doubt there would be enough time to get logistics, sponsors etc sorted out.

my feeling is that is the ACA & SA can't organise the Africa cup, Kenya should step up and host it, but with the womens WC qualifiers and the WCL coming up, that would probably stretch resources too thin.
