Hey guys umm i had a question if your a fast bowler and fast bowlers you know put a lot of stress on their back can that stun the growth of the bowler just asking because im curious cause i wanna grow to my full extent. and is it true(i noe ur not supposed to start a sentence with and but i did) that if you drink milk your bones will grow bigger and stronger meaning you will be taller?

Thanks For the Replies and cheers

Re: Back

I don't think fast bowling would stunt your growth. I dunno that drinking milk would make you taller, but it helps strengthen your bones because it contains calcium, I think.

Re: Back

I know it is off-topic, but you can start a sentence with 'and'.

And on the topic of milk, I think it increases bone density. Also Vitamin C does that as well (again I think)

Re: Back

James darling, you are so... Australian

You cannot start a sentence with a conjunction; 'and', 'but', 'if' are all joining words.

Actually, you can do what you wish these days but syntax, and indeed, semantics are the making of a man. ;)

Not directly.

If you have a mixed action, this can cause stress fractures.
If you do not have a mixed action, overuse can cause stress fractures.

If these develop into chronic inflammatory conditions, some associated biochemical messengers do directly interfere with bone growth and repair.

Calcium is great for the bones but the omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid can help increase bone formation and reduce bone resorption too.

There is a lot of research going on at the moment regarding fish oil, evening primrose, black currant and borage oil...

Just as the n-6 LC-PUFA arachidonic acid gives rise to series-2 eicosanoids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and dihomogammalinolenic acid (DGLA) serve as substrates for the series-1 and -3 eicosanoids, respectively. DGLA and EPA compete with arachidonic acid for the cycloxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes, thereby reducing—but not eliminating—the production of series-2 eicosanoids. High intakes of fish, black currant, evening primrose, and borage oils have been shown to moderately increase production of series-1 and -3 prostaglandins at the expense of PGE2; therefore, specialized PUFA supplementation may help optimize bone modeling and remodeling.

...if you are interested.

Re: Back

Liz, I am pure bred Aussie, no two ways about it

It has become so common nowadays however, I always assumed you could. I guess I had to learn something new today (public holiday)

EDIT:Does Vitamin C help increase the density of bones?

Re: Back

There are some clinical studies suggesting that vitamin C may prevent complex regional pain syndrome among elderly female patients with wrist fracture. However, the scientific evidence is unclear for its use.

Re: Back

alrite forget about the "and" liz can you translate this into English so i can understand what it means

Re: Back

 I'm afraid the closest I can get to English is Greek!

It basically means: There is a lot of research going on at the moment regarding fish oil, evening primrose, black currant and borage oil :D

Re: Back

alrite thanks liz and jimmy and jonsey for your help :D that relieved a lot of stress of my head now how to relieve the stress of the back lol
