Bennycoff blames the split for ruining FIGJAMS
"Split ripped heart out of club"
Outspoken SA FIGJAMS captain Bennycoff has blamed the forced split on all clubs last season for ruining the FIGJAMS season.
The FIGJAMS finished last on the ODI table this season winning just four matches from twelve outtings. Their test form was worse and the once proud club has not won a match this season.
Bennycoff stated, "The split that was enforced upon us ripped the heart out of the club, we lost so many good cricketers and good blokes and it ruined the team spirit and the bond".
The FIGJAMS lost several star players in the shake up including Drummond, SouthSwans, King_Brown, Aussie1st and Therbs. The club has been unable to replace the missing stars and have not been able to form any sort of bond or formulae to win matches on a regular basis.
"It's disappointing because we've got talent but we can't string matches together. I guess it will never be the same here and when you look back the split was the worse thing that ever happened to the league".
Bennycoff himself has struggled this season and the once ODI superstar number three managed just 194 runs at 17.6. His average prior to the season was 121.2. Despite the clubs troubles and his poor one day form the skipper managed to turn his test career around scoring 428 runs at 47.6 including a massive 162.
Despite the disappointing season Bennycoff believes there is hope for next season, "We have some good players at the club including Youngy and Will and we've got SouthSwans back now as well". He was also impressed with recruits Copernicus, Guru, Hollywood, Panda and Donk, "They've shown glimpses this season especially Hollywood who has had a great season. Guru and Copernicus have batted well at times and we've seen what Panda and Donk can do".
The season couldn't finish any earlier for the two time premier and one time runner-up.
