Re: Bowling vid

There is so much here I like but also so much I cannot see.

Can you take another vid but get the person filming you to stand further back. I would like to see your feet for longer and also your follow through (all of it).

Good straight line with little energy wash off. Arms pumping well but relax a little more.

Strong back foot impact in side on action.

Hands are out of peripheral vision during load up - try to correct.

Your head drops away a little.

At completion of action your upper body is really strong; good shoulder rotation (love the arm positions).

Cannot see what happens from here!

The only thing that really concerns me (from this angle) is I see a slight counter rotation. Does your lower back ever ache?

Re: Bowling vid

yes my back does ache lol , i will get another vid tommorrow and post it around lunch time.

Re: Bowling vid

Another 2 vids, was rainning and i couldnt help laugh at my poor sister standing in the rain filming, didnt warm up cause it was cold and i wanted to get inside so the action wasnt as powerful as usual , and ive noticed the back pains since i hurt my arm over the winter, i think its changed my action.

Re: Bowling vid

Not bad. I hope you rewarded your sister; beyond the call of sisterly duty :D

Lecture: When it is cold, you need to warm up more!

I liked your follow through very much; generally, this is a very strong side on action.

Just two things I would change now:

At the point where both arms are above your head, you really do need to keep your hands within peripheral vision.

It is very important that you correct your counter rotation. As your non-bowling arm comes down, keep your elbow tucked in so that your forearm travels down more or less vertically. You MUST be looking to the left of this forearm, which pushes your shoulder more to the right. However, keep momentum travelling forward in a straight line as you have it now; don't be tempted to rotate too much. If you continue as you are, you risk stress fractures of the pars interaticularis of the lumbar spine.

At this angle, I cannot see if there is any excessive hyperextension but it looks good.

Re: Bowling vid

ill get on it and post tmoz maybe my changed action, ill warm up and get it full pace. thanks liz.

Re: Bowling vid

LOL im going to be hitting the brett lee vids, my actions wrong, played today(shouldnt have, but its my last game for a month so i did) and my back's screwed, when the shinsplints are gone and my back and shoulder are back to normal(hopefully soon) ill post a vid of my new action.

Re: Bowling vid

finally ive recovered most of my injuries, the rotar cuffs stronger now and im ready to get some wickets, but there is one slight problem, my action is wrong again , im getting a pain in my lowerback to the left and i dont know what im doing wrong :( ill try correct it over the week and post a vid if i cant figure out what im doing wrong myself.

Re: Bowling vid

Get someone to spot you and make sure that the shoulders and hips are in line when bowling. If they aren't then it could lead to pain.

Also, make sure that it's just not general stiffness from not bowling for a while. Warm up correctly (using dynamic stretches) and make sure you're ready to bowl.

Re: Bowling vid

usually when i haven't bowled for a couple weeks or more and I go out to bowl a few overs or more, the right side of my back - both lower and upper end are sore/stiff. after a few days, it goes away and then I resume bowling again without problems.

I read somewhere that muscle soreness from exercise often comes from working the muscles in ways that they haven't been used to for a while....not saying that this is correct, but could be possible.

Re: Bowling vid

Just found this, [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=A0vSX9GlgQo"]YouTube - Core Test[/ame] im gonna do this isntead of all the crunches and situps i do.

Re: Bowling vid

When trying this, focus on the floor beneath you, this stretches the cervical spine a little. You do not want to be looking forward/up.

Also, when you raise your arms and legs, keep them in a straight line with your torso [like a plank].

There are many ways you can progress this. I like to do it on a stability ball; hands on the floor, toes at the top of the ball in the centre.

Mind you, none of this is functional but it is fun :p
