I don't think he's referring to the international game, more to a world super league made up of the best clubs from each region\nation.
I like the idea of that but I'm sure the logistics would be a nightmare as well as the different seasons etc.
If you look at it from that point of view then it makes sense;however, if he is on about opening up national sides to any and everybody then it's the worst idea in the history of worst ideas.

I think he means Test Cricket, if Aussie kids went to these countries and started playing Test Cricket for them - then it will just become Australia vs Australia in some games. Imagine if they had this in the Windies era - we could have Michael Holding bowling for the New Zealanders. Just a ridiculous idea from an old man, desperate to stay in the game. I haven't heard something so ridiculous in my life.

Yeah, actually reading the article he is on about tests.
Just stupid, what is going to be the incentive for teams to produe young players if they can just buy them in from elsewhere.
I also disgree with his view that beacuse a country has more than 6 first class teams then their system is rubbish.

I wouldn't mind seeing a world super league! Nightmare to organise though.
However, playing for your country is special and should remain that way. Why would India want to play 4 Aussies and and Englishman, or the West Indies have a pace attack from South Africa?
If you could choose who you play for it becomes a job and not something you care deeply about.

. we didnt force that guy to play for us you are speaking like we stole a bunch of pakistanis and they are playing for us now.
thats really crazy suggestion by buchanan. i dont have any respect for people who play any country other than their homeland. its ok for the ipl but this is international cricket you are supposed to have passion for your country.

what an awful idea. he's just seeking some attention. if it was allowed the richer boards would buy all the talent from other countries. the point of playing between countries would be totally lost. they will be just teams playing for money.

It an Awful Idea.Not good.
Playing for your country is always special for any sportsperson.
At county or league;it is fine.
Players get an opportunity to play at a different condition and league level which helps to their cricketing experience.

Buchanan's idea is rubbish, it is an attempt to undermine the concept of international sport and it further acts like Australia are on some higher plateau. I need not remind people that India traded blows with Australia earlier this decade and England damn near dominated them in the last four Tests of the 2005 Ashes.
Australia have been on a high as of late but nowhere near the extent that international cricket is becoming a superfluous race for second place in the rankings. I fully believe that England (with a firing Harmison and Flintoff), South Africa (as they are now) and India (as they are now) could give Australia a run for their money.
Buchanan suggests reducing the qualification period, I agree. However, my ideal policy would be one in which the ICC could ban somebody from representing a country:
a) if they have played for another country
b) if they have travelled to the country merely to get a chance to play for a weaker international team than their own.

Only just saw this and i think its a load of rubbish.
Why do we have to turn the international game into a farce. If you're born in India you play for India, South Africa for South Africa etc.
Do we really want to see Australia 'A' taking on Australia 'B' in the guise of India - NO.
