Elbow Injury

Hey Liz,

I have this Elbow pain every time I play cricket and do a bit of throwing. The pain started last year after a match where i did a lot of throwing. Thankfully that was towards the end of the season. Since we don't play cricket in the winter here in the US, i was able to rest it. However, this year the pain started at the very beginning of the season. It doesn't hurt when i bat or ball, only after i throw.

The pain is immediately above and below the elbow. The pain is more prominent on the sides but all around the elbow and tender at touch.

Is there anything i can do to avoid this pain? Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Mallav.

I have to say this by far one of the best websites for cricket related information along with Harrowdrive, which introduced me to this website.

Re: Elbow Injury

Hi Mallav, glad you like it here :D

It sounds like it could be one of three things:

Lateral Epicondylitis is top of my list (Tennis Elbow)
Entrapment of the radial nerve or
Referred pain from neck issues.

There are lots of strategies for each of these but you really do need to find out which one it is. Unfortunately, it is not something I can do without seeing you. Best thing to do is get over to the docs/sports therapist, get a diagnosis and we can work from there.
