England Lions: Andrew Strauss (c), Joe Denly, Owais Shah, Jonathan Trott, Ravi Bopara, Tim Ambrose (wk), Adil Rashid, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Chris Tremlett and Graham Onions.
Indians: Dinesh Karthik Wasim Jaffer, VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar (c), Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Ramesh Powar, Zaheer Kahn, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and Ishant Sharma.
Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bat. The England Lions weren't off to a good start with Strauss getting bowled by Kahn for 1. The top order offered little resistence to the Indian attack being reduced to 7/225. Joe Denly stood out in the top with 83 and Jonathan Trott chipped in with 46. But after that it all went the Lions' way with no.8 batsman Tim Bresnan notching up an unbeaten 126 and no.9 batsman Stuart Broad making 50. In the end Strauss declared with the Lions sitting on 8/413. Broad and Bresnan put on 129 for the 8th wicket. Zaheer Kahn was the pick of the bowlers with 3/119 whilst Sreesanth and Powar picked up 2 each. Sachin got the other wicket with his leg breaks.
Then it was the Indians turn to bat and they were off to a horrible start losing Jaffer, Laxman and Karthik early. The score was 3/14. Ganguly fell soon after but then Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh got together for a stand of 140 before Yuvraj was caught by Strauss of the bowling of Broad for 59. Dhoni then came in and made a quick 76 but it was always Tendulkar's innings making 171 and avoiding alot of embarassment for the Indians. They finished up all out for 383. The pick of the bowlers was Stuart Broad with figures of 19.4 overs 2 maidens 5/76. Onions picked up 3 and Tremlett and Bopara got one each.
The second innings is underway and the England lions are 1/115 an overall lead of 145 runs. Strauss is currently 61 not out and Shah is 19 not out.Denly is the dissmissed batsman caught by Jaffer off the bowling of Kahn for 18 when the score was 60.
