Ford Ranger Cup - Queensland vs South Australia at the Gabba

Match 16 of the Ford Ranger Cup has just commenced with South Australia travelling to Queensland to take on the Bulls. South Australia have struggled all year but finally chalked up a win in the Sheffield Shield competition beating Queensland a couple of days ago. They've also struggled in the one-day arena but they're a big chance to take away from points from today's game.

Queensland XI: Clinton Perren, James Hopes, Lee Carseldine, Shane Watson, Aaron Nye, *Chris Simpson, Nathan Reardon, +Chris Hartley, Ryan Harris, Chris Swan, Ben Laughlin

South Australia XI: Tom Cooper, Michael Klinger, Younis Khan, Callum Ferguson, Aaron O'Brien, *+Graham Manou, Daniel Christian, Mark Cleary, Daniel Cullen, Shaun Tait, Allan Wise

Redbacks off to a solid start, 0/6 from two overs.

Cooper drives to the left of mid-off but the super quick Reardon is there, he throws down the stumps and Cooper is short.

1/23 after 7 overs. Younis Khan in now.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup - Queensland vs South Australia at the Gabba

Well, after a very strong start, South Australia have folded to be all out for 205 after being 1/137 at one point. Younis Khan and Michael Klinger played well at the top of the order, Khan went on to score 60 before being caught in the deep after flicking over square leg and then Klinger followed only two balls later, caught in the deep also, this time at long-on.

Callum Ferguson and Daniel Christian steadied the Redbacks for a while before Ferguson was run out after a very slack running attempt which Clinton Perren pounced on. Aaron O'Brien was dismissed for a duck, facing only two balls before James Hopes had O'Brien edging behind.

That was the beginning of the end for the South Australians, Ryan Harris trapped Daniel Christian in front for 11 and then Mark Cleary was run out by half the pitch after stopping whilst going for a second run. Dan Cullen and Graham Manou hung around for a short period before Cullen was bowled by James Hopes. Shane Watson then removed Manou for 14 and then trapped Allan Wise LBW for a duck to finish off the Redbacks for an underperforming 205 all out. That's about 80 runs short of what they were on track for and certainly well short of anything competitive of what is a great pitch to bat on.

Swan, Watson and Hopes all took two wickets, Harris got one and there was the three run-outs, really not acceptable for this level of cricket.

Queensland have just started their reply, they are 0/6 in the second over.

Hopes is killing SA at the moment. He has raced to 45 from only 30 balls with 9 fours. Tait and Wise have been all over the shop with the ball.

0/55 in the 10th over, Perren has been very quiet with 8 runs so far.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup - Queensland vs South Australia at the Gabba

Perren tries to giude one down to third man off Christian but can only guide it to Manou's gloves.

1/101 in the 16the over. Hopes up to 65 from only 46 balls faced.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup - Queensland vs South Australia at the Gabba

Hopes is out trying to go over midwicket but doesn't get enough on it and it flies to long-on.

Watson in now and he and Carseldine are cruising. 2/142 in the 15th over. Need only 64 more runs to win, bonus point in their sights now too.

Glad I put my $1372 of my vBookie on the bulls to win!

Re: Ford Ranger Cup - Queensland vs South Australia at the Gabba

Finally, Cleary gets one. Carseldine tries to play one round the corner from outside off but only succeeds in playing it onto his stumps. Cleary gets a well-deserved wicket after being unlucky early on.

3/161, Watson hurrying the Bulls along, 21 from 20. 45 to win and if they can do it in 12 overs or less they'll get a bonus point. Nathan Reardon is in now.

Looks like the weather will end this one early. Queensland are 3/163 from 30 overs but the players have gone off the ground due to thunder and lightning approaching the ground.

The Bulls should win as they will be miles ahead on Duckworth/Lewis, the question remains is were they ahead enough to earn a bonus point.

Game is all over and Qld won the match under the D/L system.
