Game 4, Group B - Australia vs Zimbabwe at Cape Town

This match is not too far away. Australia are the measuring stick as far as anyone is concerned so Zimbabwe will know where abouts thier cricket infrastructure is after this match. They were competitive against South Africa in the recent one-day series surprising a few with their efforts against the Proteas.

This game is the big test though and we will see if Zimbabwe cricket has made any progress since their massive downfall began.

Australia will be looking for a win here and to get their campaign off to the best possible start. Some quotient would also come in handy as they face the specialist England line-up later in the week.

Australia XI: Adam Gilchrist+, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting*, Andrew Symonds, Mike Hussey, Brad Hodge, Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark.

Raining a little at the moment but it expected to clear. We should still see the full 20 overs for both sides.

Embarassing start for Australia so far. They sit at 3/42 after 8.2 overs with Andrew Symonds not out on 12 and Michael Hussey not out on 10.

Australia are really struggling at the moment. They haven't played as a unit since the end of the 50-over World Cup and they look very rusty. They are also struggling to cope with the conditions, it has been raining a lot at Cape Town, so much in fact, that the city has already registered its average rainfall for the month. That and the fact the Zimbabwe bowlers are quite slow and nagging is making Australia's task a lot tougher.

The Zimbabwe bowlers are bowling well though. Elton Chigumbura has 2/10 with Gary Brent 1/10. They are bowling very good lines and are making it very diffcult for Australia to score runs.

Should have a good game on our hands here. Commentators were saying that 140 would be a good score. I reckon they will need a bit more than that.

Uh-oh, Hussey run out by Sibanda for 15.

4/50 in the 10th over now with Brad Hodge in the middle. Australia in a bit of trouble here.

Andrew Symonds lead back a mini revival before being stumped off Masakadza for 33.

Australia 5/86 in the 14th over.

Brad Hodge is 16 not out. He is the leading run scorer in Twenty20 history and he'll need to have a big innings here if Australia want to set a substantial total. They are looking rather rusty at the moment and Zimbabwe are taking advantage.

Just as well Australia aren't taking this seriously.

But, that is really no excuse, to lose to Zimbabwe is rather embarassing. The batters and bowlers need a big kick up the arse after that effort.

They will need to win their last game against England to progress through to the next round.

looked VERY VERY rusty over night.

played some dumb shots to get out, but Zimbabwe played very well.

It's interesting to look at Zimbabwe's run chase, they didn't go all out and hit over the top and look to get the runs in 10 overs, they took their time, built an innings and got the runs.

Which is why i've said since the first Twenty20 match i saw...20 overs is a damn long time!

Aussies good at playing to the mamas boys, 40-year-old virgins,
and other sexually non-threatening males but just aren't up
to the rock-em-sock-em, 20/20, stud cricket. The stage is
set. If they lose to the Pommies they're OUT! 'Course,
if ICC had used the Timmyj format would still be playing
but thanks to the anacephalic format the iCC's keeping four
teams are going home after just two matches. Have to wonder
if it was worth their time even coming for two matches.
