GCA 2 flag predictions

1st XI - Thomson, smiljanic hitting form makes them hard to go past. Oneill having a good season too. Bowling is weak at time though
smoky - Torquay, have a different side in from the start of the season apparently. Matt Slater is the key for them

2nd XI -Manifold, have the depth in the 1st XI which means they have quality player running around in the 2's. Bowling there strength
smoky - Alexander Thompson, have a quality bowling attack with Harris and Sarah. just need there batsmen to step up

3rd XI - Manifold again just for the same reason as in the 2's. Have some players that would be playing turf at most of the other clubs in the league. Craig, Traville and gorman are a good bowling attack.
smoky - any side that makes the finals can win on there day 3rds cricket is a bit up and down as we all know.

4th XI - Torquay a bunch off young blokes who should all be playing a higher grade. Have high quality bowlers but there batting is a bit up and down from the scorecards.
smoky - Bell Park or St. Peters they both have a good mix off old and young heads in there side. Connell is near on impossible to get out for Bell Park

3rd XI: Keep an eye on St Peters. Only play one more side in the top six and have lost just two games. Just lost to Mano in Round 1 when both sides had plenty out. Semis in past two seasons and ready to go one step better.

St.Peters will only win that if that fat prick gaylard plays

He has now retired, hence the reason for him only playing one game.

Why did he retire he's not that old is he?

Pretty full-on with his job and is on call on a Sat and was working more often than not. Still VP at club.

Re: GCA 2 flag predictions

Everyone's played everyone else once now, so this is a good time to ponder over all Div 2 Firsts possibilities (in current ladder order) -

Thomson - Best side in it and deserve to be favorites. Best thing that happened to them was losing first game; it allowed them to fly under the radar up to Xmas.

Highton - Keep winning the close ones when no-one really expects them to; maybe there is something in this group-hug, team-bonding stuff they love down there. Discount them at your peril.

Murgheboluc - Capable of anything, at either end of the scale. Be great to watch if all their batsmen fired on the same day.

North Shore - Another underestimated side who since Xmas have kept winning when not expected and had the great Manifold on their knees last round. You wouldn't expect them to go all the way but stranger things have happened.

Manifold - Everyone is starting to realise they are not as invincible as they and everyone else thought at the start of the season. Won't win it if they can't finish higher than where they are now.

Torquay - Going OK after a slow start but have Thomson and Murghe in the last 2 rounds and therefore are no certainties to make it. Hard work from here.

AT & St.Peter's - Both have a tough last couple of games and may not make it even if Torquay stumble.

So if it sounds like I'm having an each-way bet on them all, well I am! Very hard to pick from here, but I think Thomson have a better chance than anyone else.

Re: GCA 2 flag predictions

believe murghe have the firepower with the bat and ball, key is the bowling ,maybe a bit erratic but they have genuine quicks, and can bowl sides out very cheap, and all 11 CAN bat

all 11 can play cross bat slogs. murghe too suspect in finals for mine as you would know first hand big mac, esp chasing small totals in grand finals

Re: GCA 2 flag predictions

I have played a lot of turf cricket and some hard wicket, have watched quite a few games this year, gca 1s gca 2s and nearly every side has "cross bat "sloggers and its usually the better batsman!!!!!!and yes over the years they have struggled in the finals, but a lot of new faces there!!!!
