Gunn and Moore - Catalyst 808

I've just ordered a new bat, the Gunn and Moore Catalysts 808 - Grade 2 English Willow.

Has anyone had any experience with it before? I have a G&M Purist 606 at the moment, and I love it. I've moved up to a short handle from a harrow and I was wondering if anyone's used one. How balanced is it, how well does it hit and things.

Any comments would be useful, thanks.

Re: Gunn and Moore - Catalyst 808

It'll all depend on the bat maker and the willow to be honest. Apart from the shape (which admittently has an impace on the balance) the vital factor is the willow, no more, no less.

GM are a well known band and you're getting English willow. It should be fairly well but a lot will depend on how you look after it as well as the willow it was selected from.

I just bought a Catalyst Original. If you can spare the extra cash, its well worth it. One the best pickups I've seen and still plently of wood left in it. Yes the willow is the key, as you can expect good bat crafting from GM.

Re: Gunn and Moore - Catalyst 808

Pressing is as important as willow I would say. Poor pressing can ruin a good piece of willow and vice-versa.
