Hello kettle, it's the pot calling..

Hello kettle, it's the pot calling..

I know there are a few BigSoccer and North American footy fans here, so I am sure you will get a kick out of this :
"This has been a World Cup for the organisers, the visitors and the players but certainly not for the people. That's why the stadiums are empty and that in itself is a con job. It's the biggest con job ever passed off in this region."
Jack Warner, the head of the Caribbean's footballing fraternity, takes a swipe at the World Cup

I don't even know were to begin!! Yes, he is correct in his assessment, but for Jack Warner, JACKFREAKINWARNER to take jabs at another fed after the way he handles CONCALAF is like the joke of the century. Don't even wait for 2099, give the man the prize right now!!
To say "That's why the stadiums are empty and that in itself is a con job. It's the biggest con job ever passed off in this region."!! I mean CONCALAF is the biggest con job in the history of FIFA. The gall of this man. I love both sports, and while the ICC f'd up big for this Cup, they still have opportunities to redeem themselves. This man has taken CONCALAF from the toilet to the sewer. If it wasn't for Mexico and the United States I do not know where he'd be, but it's sure not at the head of the fed thats for sure. He probably would be driving a taxi to and from the docks, selling souvenirs to the cruise ship crowd. Man I can't believe he actually criticized ICC. People in glass houses should not throw stones and Jack Warner should not be the head of a household, much less a sporting body.

Re: Hello kettle, it's the pot calling..

It's CONCACAF. Not CONCALAF.

Jack Warner is a corrupt crony and does in fact hurt CONCACAF in many ways.

FIFA World Cup has no problem selling out their games. ICC World Cup has been awful in terms of crowd support. Bob Woolmer tragedy and both India and Pakistan getting knocked out early was the worst thing ICC could have ever hoped for.

Irrespective of that, in terms of their budget, worldwide fan interest and just the scale at which they operate, ICC doesn't hold a candle to FIFA. By corollary, ICC World Cup doesn't hold a candle to FIFA World Cup.

I've a feeling even the IRB World Cup (that's the Rugby Union for those of you not familiar with it) later this year in France is going to be a bigger success than ICC World Cup in terms of crowds they get.

CONCALAF was a 'joke' that usually gets edited out of BigSoccer, at least it did for a while. It's a joke, both the fed, and the term.

I would not have had a problem if it was coming from a top FIFA official directly, but for Jack Warner, JACKFREAKINWARNER, head of the joke that is CONCALAF to say those things was, at least to me, incredulous.

Yes you will be right there. As it is in France it is the center of many of the European teams. Crowds will come from England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy as the trip is short and relatively cheap. It is so expensive for people to travel over to the West Indies and when the locals are knocked out by the price then small crowds will happen.

Loving your posting Diamond hope to see you stick around after the World Cup @|
