Hello To Bigcricket!

I've always loved cricket. Playing initially for a club in North London, Middlesex League until 1984 and then in Sussex until 1995 when due to family commitments I went into semi-retirement, i.e. just playing a few games a season. I have enjoyed managing my sons colts team since the U9s all the way through to U16 and now am captain of the 4th team, mostly to help the kids engage with the senior game. I am a specialist opening bat, but due to all the net bowling I've been doing with the colts I am exploring a new career as away swing bowler with an interest in subtle variations, e.g. how to get the ball to jag into the right hander or skid through. Somehow have never managed to swing the ball in to the right hander inspite of studying lots of theory about how this ball is supposedly bowled.

Hello mate, good to have another bloke from blighty on here, we're kind of out-numbered by the Aussies on here a bit, but they're pretty welcoming as well, hope you stick around and make some contributions to the forums.

Thanks Mate
Enjoyed those Clarrie Grimmett tutorials on Youtube. Inspired me to try developing my own skiddy-flipper type delivery. Not there yet.....
Nice one, I don't really use many of them at all now except for the Wrong Wrong Un, which has come on a long way since those vids (Which need to be updated). Glad you got something from them, the 'Flick of the fingers' release is a pretty handy little addition to your bowling no matter what you bowl as it adds a slightly different dimension, I'm surprised more off-spinners don't get in on the act with the flippers.
