Help!Mouse trouble!

Anyone here clued up on computers? When i start my pc it boots then boots again then goes onto the log on screen then the mouse freezes unless i keep it moving.I then log on after around 30 seconds it freezes again and doesn't work at all.Now i have to use tab to use the computer and it's very annoying!Could it be something to do with the registry. It's a USB mouse by the way.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

As a starting point, try using a different USB port, I get similar problems with my keyboard and have to swap them around.

It's a USB mouse but has a green adapter so it goes in the standard mouse port.Anyway i took that off and tried it in the USB port and now it seems to be working.Think it could have been the green adapter thingy causing the trouble. Thanks!

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Well it did work but now it seems to be doing the same. This time it works sometimes but stops and starts randomly.I've tried re-installing but it doesn't seem to have worked.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Could be a faulty mouse. Have you checked it on another PC? Have you tried swapping USB ports while the PC is running?

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Sounds a bit like a virus to me have you tried running a virus scan or booting your pc up with the internet disabled and see how it goes.

Have tried another mouse but just does the same.It makes a noise as if it's been unplugged then plugged back in again then it just makes the noise once and the stays not working.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Definately sounds like a virus to me then, might be someone or something remotely controlling your pc unplug your internet and boot up and see if its like that still. If it isnt you got a keylogger or someone controlling your pc .

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Could be a virus if you don't have an up-to-date anti-virus. Otherwise it must be a windows related problem. Try booting in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

It's not a virus, i've never had a virus ever.I've done some searching and it seems to be either something wrong with the registry. The mouse actually works when i reboot the pc or insert it into another USB port but only for a short period. If it was a keylogger i'm pretty sure it would be controlling my keyboard too.Nothing else is wrong with the PC just the mouse freezing.

Could be windows could be windows drivers which i'm trying now.Tried booting in safe mode but it just re boots the pc and goes to the log on screen strangley enough.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Seems a strange problem. Safe mode should work unless you have some major problems. I haven't ever used the system restore feature, but if you have it enabled, you could give it a try.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Have you installed any programs recently? New installations can sometimes mess up the registry causing problems that weren't there before hand.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Seems to be fixed now.I checked out the system bios and is was set to disabled not sure how or why.But thanks for your comments fellas.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

Seems like a never ending problem! The system bios thing worked but only for a 10 minutes or so but i think/hope i have the problem now.Seems to be the UPS that's not working which isn't too major i don't think.

Re: Help!Mouse trouble!

must be a windows related problem. i keep running into strange problems every couple of months. its a pain to figure out the problem and i usually end up doing a clean install of windows after formatting my c drive.
