So I don’t know if I said it on here but my club has been providing some coaching sessions for colts players in the off season.

Apart from immediate technical changes that immensely helped me, my main hurdle has been over-balancing when playing down the ground.

I’ve been doing exercises like front foot raised lunges recommended by the coach but also one where I just stand on my front foot and try to stay balanced while swinging through a straight drive.

I’m really happy because I was batting extremely well opening the batting this morning. I only made 15(17) however:

In my first over I creamed 3 (grounded) off drives straight to the man at mid off.

3rd over in I hit 5 2s and a dot, unfortunately the outfield was once again ridiculously slow so nothing was going for 4.

But the best thing is that 4 of those 2s were from clipping the ball off my pads between mid wicket and mid on. I middled every single one of them.

I think I middled every single ball of my innings until the one that got me out. A wide full ball that caught the outside half of my bat and I managed to hit straight to the man standing at point.
Playing already. Any red ball. How is your bowling progressing.

Still winter T20s. Mostly been focusing on batting but bowl an over here or there.

I find it hard to bowl spin in a lot of the games because the ball gets wet and slippery.

Game 2 weeks ago I bowled the last over of the innings against a very good batsman that plays for my summer club. I only conceded 8 with none of those coming from boundaries.

Still practicing in nets though. I have a bad habit of excessively jumping over to my right when I bowl. Trying to iron that out. Also trying to get the release timing right for my subtler variations, like my more top spinning off break I have been dragging down a bit.

One of our greatest, Glenn MaGrath did that. Watch some footage how he jumps rt to be as close to stumps as poss. Only international bowler I have seen do that. W'd think there'd be hundreds emulating the great man as it sure worked for him.
