How we go from here... The Match Fixing Debacle

Harsha Bhogle: Pakistan must join the fight against match-fixing | Opinion | Cricinfo Magazine | Cricinfo.com

Harsha Bogle has some good opinions there, and for me he is dead right. This stuff has all been ridiculous and cricket may never fully recover.

It is a big shame in particular for the Pakistan team. They aren't all involved in it, and you can see when they aren't under-performing they are a quite brilliant team, those two wins against England in the ODI series were enthralling. I can't name a single player in their First XI that shouldn't be playing, and yet their is still a big cloud over them and surely when you think of 'great current cricketers', none of them come to mind even though they should.

Your thoughts?

It is a sad situation. Asif and Amir (sp) are two of the best bowlers in the world.

Their likely exclusion from the game, hurts the game as a whole.

The problem with international cricket at the moment, is that T20 is the dominating format boards look to with the intention of making money.

However, it is also the format of the game most prone to spot-fixing.

Is T20 really more prone to spot-fixing? This summer's scandal was all about Tests... The impact T20 has on match fixing is that it makes some players very rich, while leaving some very poor. Pakistani players are unable to play in the IPL and get taste of that money and there's no doubt that's part of the reason they could be tempted to accept money from other sources.
