I dont think people would be interested to watch unknown players play in 3 day or 5 day matches so thats why they are using twenty20 to gain popularity then maybe later they will have unlimited overs matches.
the motive of bcci is clear with the ipl they only want to make a lot of money. i know it will be held off season but with the amount of cricket being played it will put even more stress on the players. if ipl is to go ahead they need to reduce the international matches somewhat.
