India Power Biggest Score In Cup History
After being in self-destruction mode against Bangladesh, the Indian batsmen were in opposition destruction mode against Bermuda. Powered by Virender Sehwag’s return to form century, Sourav Ganguly’s anchor role, and Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh’s blitzkriegs, they piled up a World Cup record of 413 runs with 5 wickets lost.
Chasing a World Cup record total of 413 runs Bermuda were all out for 156 in 43.1 overs, handing India a 257-run victory, also a World Cup record. Virender Sehwag hit a breezy 114 off 87 deliveries and the barrage of sixes that Yuvraj Singh smacked all over the ground was exhilarating. Even Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar made a smashing hit with (89-Ganguly) & (57 not out, Tendulkar)
The previous best total was 398-5 by Sri Lanka against Kenya at Kandy in the 1996 ICC CWC. It was also the biggest victory in one-day internationals by run-margin, the previous highest being Australia's 256-run win over Namibia in the last ICC CWC in South Africa.
Do you think that Would India be able to maintain the same consistency for other matches?
I think that now Indians are much more confident for their performance in world cup 2007. They are going to use their best efforts to win the world cup.
